Sim Update 10 beta is out!

Why does asobo still updates default airbus neo? There are already very good buses out there freeware or payware. They can focus on grainy and pixelated clouds, live weather, traffic, atc instead.

Because not everyone has access to said aircraft or wishes not to go any further than what came with the sim.

You or I may not use those AC anymore but for sure there are many people who still use the default neo.

Any kind of AA will reduce sharpness of the image. My way to judge is: it’s looking better?! Then it’s good. I liked DLSS QUALITY better than TAA.

TAA is definitely a lot sharper. It is not even close. I mean I wish it was better. Which plane did you use?

Did you look under Anti Aliasing? I initiale looked for a separate option, since that is the way most games do it. DLSS was a gamechanger for my on Cyperpunk 2077, where it doubled my FPS.

I did. I just get TAA, DLAA and FXAA. Those are the only 3 options. DLSS doesn’t show up. Can’t figure it out for the life of me. Used DDU to fully uninstall the driver and that didn’t work on reinstall. Tried everything I can think of so who knows. Still early in the beta so hopefully some other people will have the issue and a solutions shows up.

Tested with the 787. No problem to read the displays.

not even finished reading the long list of release notes (have not installed beta SU10 yet), and considering we are talking BETA here, I think such a statement is worse than a bad joke, it is outrageous, impudent, ungrateful, a disgrace. the price you pay for public beta I guess.

Although I wouldn't have phrased it the way the thread author did, I am currently underwhelmed with what I'm actually seeing on screen.  Cockpits are noticeably blurry, even at the DLSS quality setting - does DLSS have to run on each machine to see improvements over time I wonder? I watched many YouTube Videos and articles that suggest graphics quality maybe better at the quality setting, but not on my setup.  Cloud wise I haven't noticed any differences.  DX12 doesn't bring noticeable improvements in fps.

Everything works ok, but I feel like I'm just flying in SU9 at the moment as there is no noticeable difference in FPS, textures, DLSS or clouds.

I thought the whole point of DLSS was to reduce the resolution and use AI to “fill in the blanks”. The will surely cause a loss in clarity.

Nah, if you've seen the comparison images, you actually gain more clarity due to the AI fill-in and sharpening. Obviously a tiny bit of raw data is lost but the clarity is amazing, when it's implemented properly. Definitely shouldn't be the least bit blurry or fuzzy.

I was advocating for public beta since day one of MSFS release. The whole point of beta is to find and report bugs to developers prior patch release. What is a point to post this rant here?

Why not!? Its just a rant.

Problem is that betas so far did not get any dip core improvements in release version. Only show stopers are fixed during beta. platform improvements are to risky at this point.

Jeah, I'm getting sorry for the title, but its for drama 🙂

I wonder could it be that we should wait for nvidia optimized game driver. Usually nvidia release specific game optimized dlss driver.

Why are some people griping about the Beta, it's doing exactly what it is meant to do- report the bugs, does absolutely no good to grip - report the bugs, not complain

I am grateful to everyone who test the new Beta, but I will stay away from it as I have no major problems with SU9, but I will follow the thread with interest.

I was going to do a controlled test an hour ago, comparing pre beta to beta. But I had updated my MB driver and it reset the BIOS away from my settings. I only now got them back to where they were before. And will do a simple test.

Perhaps someone else could also test? Just don't install the beta and run a flight somewhere that isn't in an area of just vanilla scenery and do a quick flight. Record the fps on pencil and  paper along the way. Then repeat after installing the beta.

I haven't installed beta yet. I do expect fps increase in the beta if and when I turn on DX 12 and DLSS in the MSFS options menus.

I'm going to use LSPU to LSMS because it's mountain valley scenery and not vanilla. And I fly that region a lot and am familiar with it.

Ok first impressions from about an hours worth, purely from a VR perspective;

  • No performance increase or decrease that I can see
  • OpenXR Toolkit does work just fine with my Reverb G2 (DX11), CTD with DX12 though
  • Toolbar Windows partially fixed; no longer cut off (huzzah!) but still not remembering their size/location and mouseover windows/garmin screens still freezes certain controls - granted these final two were not in the patch notes but they started to get b0rked in SU7 so it's very annoying that they've still not fixed them yet.
  • DLSS is visibly working, I can see the difference in Quality/Performance settings but even on Quality its blurred too much for my own personal tastes and I think with OpenXR Toolkit I'd prefer to stick to that and TAA instead. There was a marginal FPS increase with DLSS on Performance but it wasn't amazing and would barely be noticeable on my system, will still have a play around with it though at a later date.
  • World Scale works just fine, beta bug is that is defaults back to 100 in the Menu (logged/voted on official forum)
  • the "jumping horizon" bug not fixed but as above not in patch notes
  • the mouse pointer becomes very small over switches and knobs, wasn't doing that in SU9, still works though
  • DX12 becomes a slideshow and artefacts everywhere so I'll be avoiding that!

So far so good, didn't see any regressions which I have in the first 5 minutes in previous Betas/Sim Updates.....plenty of digging/playing to do yet though!

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

After trying it for a while, early impressions:

1. Stable so far - I had to clear my community directory because AIG was causing CTDs, but once that was done, I brought the Fenix and a couple of third party airports back in, and it's worked fine since then. No CTDs or odd behaviour.

2. DLSS - I have a 5600x, 3080Ti, and 32 GB RAM along with an NVME SSD. I run 4K Ultra, and with DLSS off, I get 25-30 FPS with the Fenix and large airports (FlyTampa CYYZ, for eg). In the air, it's 40-45 fps. With DLSS on, that goes up to 35-40 fps on the ground, and a steady 55-60 FPS at cruise. However.. the displays are visibly blurrier, and the refresh rate also drops - you can see the needles blur as they move on engine startup, for example. It's definitely smoother fps-wise, but I went back to TLAA because I prefer a sharper, clearer image. Haven't tried with any other planes yet.

3. Clouds and weather look subjectively better and more true to life, though of course everyone will have their own view of this.

Really great feedback so far thank you. I’m very keen to hear how DLSS operates as I’m eyeing up a 3080ti Nvidia graphics card (I was going to buy a 6950xt).
