Sim Update 10 beta is out!

And its a bad joke!

Performance is worse than SU9. in dx12 and in dx11. dx12 is still unusable. DLSS has done nothing except blurred displays and labels. FPS with dlss is exactly the same, well even worse with dlss on quality. But that was expected as cpu was bottleneck from the beginning.

Shadows still terrible in dx11 and dx12. Clouds are the same, no visibility changes, nothing.

I'm trying to justify it as it is beta. but its hard. 😞

Sooooo... You got into a beta and then came to complain that it has bugs... mmmm 🤔

Yeah this seems to be the common review showing up over the last hour or so.  I guess I’ll stop worrying about the fact that DLSS won’t show up for me under any circumstances.  I tried everything in the book for driver uninstalls, etc.  No go with my 3090.  Probably not a big deal since the sim is more or less fine and was only hoping for a VR improvement where it seems worse.

If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

You guys using the sharpening option with DLSS?   I turned it up to 150 and its looking good here.

Are you sure you made it into the beta? There's a little search bar with a magnifying glass right at the top of the VFR map window. You can also click on any navaid icon on the map.

In addition, you should also now notice that navdata loads immediately on the map (used to take upwards of 30-60 seconds to get all the data) and airspaces are drawn with nice smooth curves. Changing zoom should also be a smooth transition instead of a jump to the new range.

Edit: If you have the WT G3000, that includes a VFR map mod that may be overwriting the new VFR map. You can follow these instructions to disable it:

Changing the G3000 config line didn't work, but using an empty community folder did. So i guess it's another mod that interferes with the VFR map. Gonna try to hunt it down. Thanks, Matt.

Did you look under Anti Aliasing? I initiale looked for a separate option, since that is the way most games do it. DLSS was a gamechanger for my on Cyperpunk 2077, where it doubled my FPS. But the FPS tanked in the first place because of raytracing. So DLSS might still be somewhat worth it for that if they implement it. But the need to find a way to enhance the display sharpness while DLSS is enabled.

No real difference in VR for me.

Not that I know of, but will check with empty community folder.

I downloaded the updates, but didn't restart the sim. Gonna try that too, thanks.

Try removing mods that change the UI.

Like Toolbar Pushback.

I wonder who the author of this topic would've been if the beta had major VR issues...

Even I've got the intelligence to understand what a beta is 😉 for sure they've screwed up past betas, not denying that, but on day one give them a break eh!?

The DLSS implementation is....not good. I got a 5800x and a 3080 with an Index and displays are much sharper with TAA even on quality with DLSS. It did not affect it that much on the C310 and I did not go in depth regarding FPS, but with thee Fenix DLSS is useless since it is always much more blurry.
The one other thing that was important for me is the VR toolbar window fix. While it is improved, since the windows are bigger when opened, they still don't remember size and position and close every time you disable VR. So that is very half assed. The main issue is exactly as it was before.

I thought the whole point of DLSS was to reduce the resolution and use AI to “fill in the blanks”. That will surely cause a loss in clarity.

Any kind of AA will reduce sharpness of the image. My way to judge is: it’s looking better?! Then it’s good. I liked DLSS QUALITY better than TAA.

@ca_metal jup... everything in content manager updated, cache cleared. there was a lot to download there. Community folder empty.

Dont get me wrong here. I'm a big fan of msfs. always been. 25 years. It is just first impressions. Experience in the last 2 years is that first beta is pretty much what we get in release.

There are tons of feature fixes and additions in this release, but its is majority in content not in the core engine.

The horizon line is still there in elevated terrain.... things like these...

I would be very happy to be proven wrong and that problem is with my system.

And the topic is provocative as we will never have consensus here 🙂

Why does asobo still updates default airbus neo? There are already very good buses out there freeware or payware. They can focus on grainy and pixelated clouds, live weather, traffic, atc instead.

I was advocating for public beta since day one of MSFS release. The whole point of beta is to find and report bugs to developers prior patch release. What is a point to post this rant here?

Some people use the default one. The team doing aircraft updates isn’t the same that work on those features.

Exactly. Now vegetation on ground is also grainy btw. I just dont get that they give priority on content.
