August 25, 20223 yr I wonder how Meigs Field is going to work. I mean, I'm as mad as the next guy that Daley bulldozed it but... For the most part I like flying the world as it is, not as it was. I assume we'll be able to turn it off when we want to do flights in 2022? Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

For the most part I like flying the world as it is, not as it was. I assume we'll be able to turn it off when we want to do flights in 2022? I understand, but in all honesty how often will you fly close enough to even notice unless that is your destination. Case in point, here is a link to my screen shot post from a flight into Midway today. I flew right by that former Meigs location, and busy at 170 knots managing the approach, just under an overcast, with the city of Chi-town to distract me, I didn't even think about the Meigs location, much less notice it. Just saying....https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/623292-under-the-radar-ok-how-about-under-the-clouds/ Edited August 26, 20223 yr by fppilot Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. Gotcha. 1 minute ago, fppilot said: I understand, but in all honesty how often will you fly close enough to even notice unless that is your destination. I fly in and out of ORD all the time, and I notice the Meigs location every time I'm coming in from over the lake because I, too, spent a *lot* of time at Meigs in the old sim days. 😉 Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

OK, understand. Today I was on the PANGG3 arrival via FWA HALIE STERE, so I was out further over the lake on the way to Midway. I fly GA and light personal jet (Hondajet) and KORD is not often my destination. But I am familiar with the route along the shore from CGT to DEERE from my days with flights from KIND. You can uninstall any handcrafted airport via the content manager even ones included in the base sim. Edited August 26, 20223 yr by Tuskin38

Maybe even closer to the aircraft than Sint Maarten. I loved it! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Actually I’m not going to submit myself to the sand blast experience, but there are so many great vantage points to watch the planes coming and going. Unfortunately the biggest thing flying here is the Air France and KLM A330’s. Would love to have been here back in the days of the KLM, Air France and Corsair 747’s. Aside from that, once here it made me realize how good a job FlyTampa did on TNCM and the surrounding area. After simming there for 15 or so years, when I landed and got out of the airport I almost felt like I’d been here before. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

The last time I was there was back before MSFS came out and I just had the default p3d scenery. When I installed the FlyTampa scenery I was very impressed with how close they got to the real thing. I actually like flying into that airport now. It looks right, there isn't a giant lake where the fuel depot is supposed to be, and the ocean looks a lot more like the Caribbean than it ever did in previous sims. I was over at St Barts yesterday and could say the same about it and the job FT did with it as well. I went to that hill above the runway that the planes pass through on approach and got some really good videos of the planes coming over and diving in towards the runway. It was pretty close looking to what FT represents in the sim. Another one that made me feel like I’d been there before. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 29, 20223 yr Definitely. St. Baarts in previous sims was a waste of time. I've spent tons of time perfecting landings there in this one. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light
