I saved a file called usrCFG.opt   months ago, it had all he settings in there, but I never had had to use it.

Only the graphic settings are in that file, I guess within which file are the controls configuration

The good thing about MSFS is that your settings are saved in the the cloud.  I've lost mine several times but always got them back.  With FSX I had to save my controls.cfg file.

Hi, the solution to resolve this problem is extremely easy and quick to implement: disconnect from the Microsoft store and reconnect.

There's defo something weird going on. I got a blue boxed message from Microsoft Store during the load that said the game can't be connected because its offline and it won't open.

I close down the sim, log out of the app and log back in, start up the sim and I get an error message saying the sim is already running! If I wasn't a patient person I would be seething right now.

Is there stuff going on with servers due to the beta or something that is causing all this nonsense? I've had a smooth ride for a year at least and out of the blue these problems start. Frustrating.

The most easy solution to the problem is as mentioned by @jpsnsa842, to add how to solve @El Diablito's problem, a computer system restore is required between the sign out and the sign In.

I lost everything, including my flight hours 2 days ago. Said it can’t sync my data when I tried to start the sim. I think I shouldn’t have pressed the offline button. Didn’t have time to cope with the issue and the next day my whole install went bad and I couldn’t start the sim anymore. I hope to get my install working again and hopefully get everything back. Is there a way to choose a specific Xbox Cloud save (date) to go back to my last working state and logged data?!

Quick update for everyone who might also panic when this happens. After uninstalling and reinstalling the sim it seems fine again, also my logbook and controller settings are restored. Had to reconfigure graphics settinsuand traffic though…

But the bad thing is you have little control over it. There should be an option to backup these settings or go a to a previous version of the settings.
Cleaning out settings is also not possible. Profiles for controllers I discarded years ago are still synced everytime.

Didn't work when this happened to me last weekend.  I tried MS Store and Xbox app log off and log back in.  Still didn't get my settings back.  I wound up having to reassign 5 pieces of hardware mulitplied by 12 different aircraft configs.  60 different profiles. 😄

Insert your disk, 30 gbs installation, log out here and there, change the live.com password, tryed everything it works before... And finaly what did worked to force the resync was deleting T and numeric folder in wgs folder, sing out xbox, sing out store, sing store, sing xbox and the next start of msfs in the launch screen appeared the save window saying: "syncing it..."

Two times in a week, that is becoming pretty quiet sad. If I would not invested so many money in addons, this time I would deleting for ever msfs 2020

I've been getting settings loss too lately, but oddly only with the realism settings, which keep getting dumbed down to all easy-mode. Very strange.

I lost my keyboard en rudder assignments after the latest beta update. Re-assigned them manually.

I just lost everything  - the controller profiles are all gone (nothing but defaults and all of my custom settings are unavailable).  All of the sim options were also reset to default and my graphics settings are wiped out, the logbook is empty, etc.

I'm trying a logout/login sequence on the store and Xbox, then will attempt a restart,

Me too.

Since last night i have been through this update sequence six times. This morning I seemed to be getting somewhere I was now able to input new profiles yet the Default name would not change to the new profile name that I gave it. Then I got the message that I had to install some other  essential update. This I tried but after another 30 minutes  it finally hung with a blue screen with a '/' at top righthand side.

I will also try a logout/login sequence on the store and Xbox, then will attempt another restart,
