Fenix A320 and very high CPU temperatures

Featured Replies

100 I do not hit, I may scratch the 80 occasionally as I just tested with the FENIX when taking off at FSDT's Vancouver

Nope, only Fenix A320 that's making my CPU going berserk.

The thing is that the addon is only exposing a problem that already exists. You should be able to run your CPU at 100% load without overheating it.

Like Bob said, there are others with the same PC who are reporting high temps. I'd reach out to Acer and see what they're doing to resolve it.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Thanks, I'll give them a shout first thing tomorrow

Thanks. I unfortunately haven't got a clue on tech data for the coolers. There are 4 fans in the case, one for the CPU, one for the GPU, one in the front part of the case and one in the back.

Seriously if you have a return window I would consider using it,

I googled the model you have and it looks like it just has the stock garbage intel cpu cooler, the case doesn't look like it has the best airflow either

If you cannot return it you'll have to open a support ticket or find someone locally that can take a look to make sure the cpu cooler has been installed correctly or maybe offer a different solution. The cooler I have is air cooled as well and I have zero cooling issues period even with a 3090. My case does have 2 X 180mm fans on the front and 3 X 140mm fans under the GPU and I only have the one fan on my Noctua cooler and like I said the CPU runs cool.

Unfortunately I think your problem is definitely cpu cooler/case related

From my own experience the Fenix utiliizes AVX instructions a lot more than other planes and an AVX intensive situation easily leads to high CPU temperature, I would recommend setting AVX offset value to 2 in your BIOS to start with to see any temp difference.

Thanks for this information, Richard, I definitely will open a support ticket with Acer, the return window has expired already.

I will give that a go, too and see what happens

Another thought, are you rendering the Fenix displays on the CPU in the Fenix configuration app?  Maybe try rendering on your GPU instead to see if it makes a difference.

Hi Eric,

Thanks. I tried that but then fps is going down to around 15 fps and making it impossible to fly.. (I've got my fps locked on 30 fps normally).

Sounds like a cooling issue to me,  AMD5800x3d and Radeon 6800xp, neither go above 70c. with any aircraft or scenary. I would guess you have a stock fan with the cpu and it just is in capable at cooling due to how hard the sim works it.

I looked at the OP PC online, it looks to have the stock Intel CPU cooler. I have the same CPU with onboard graphics and I am currently at FL340 in the Fenix with FSLTL over the South East of the UK and my CPU is sitting around 46 degrees.

Why Acer would put that cooler on a gaming PC is just ridiculous. I feel sorry for people who spend their hard earned cash on these prebuilt systems then end up with issues such as this. It just isn't right.

I just found a way to up the rpm of the CPU fan and now it cools the CPU sufficiently. Nevertheless I contacted Acer to see what they can do for me in this matter.

Hi Richard, the fans were running at 10% of their capacity. I accidentally found out how I could make the fans individually faster. Running the  CPU fan at 30% cools the processor sufficiently (around 60C)

46 degrees, what do you ave a refrigeration unit cooling your CPU?

No a Noctua NH-D15S (An air cooler!)

I won't use anything else. Plus I have a case with excellent airflow, 2 X 180mm fans at the front and 3 X 140mm fans under the GPU. If I turn down the volume I can barely hear any of the fans running. I did my homework when I built this PC and it paid off
