Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Wow. We managed to duplicate an Apollo splashdown. And it's only been a little over 50 years ago............

A teeny tiny bit more complicated, but similar!

Indeed. SpaceX of course will be doing it a lot more sophisticated for you. NASA have had plenty of criticism for the non-reusable old fashioned approach. It was the only way for them to do it this quickly of course.

But we must remember that Orion may have splashed down, like capsules of old, but technically Orion is way more sophisticated than the Apollo. Its a bit like saying an F22 manages to duplicate a Wright Brothers landing. 😄 Orion did of course fly further than any human rated spacecraft has flown before. Not to mention testing the atmospheric skip manoeuver.

I guess I'm just a Gemini Guy. After that and Apollo 11 the stuff that's going on now isn't all that impressive. I was at the Cape during part pf the Apollo program and I guess that may cloud my judgement a bit. But I'll say again, there is nothing going on now that's worth getting excited about...IMNSHO.

Is a permanent presence on the Moon not exciting. Permanent Moon base? Not to mention developing the technology to go further afield, namely Mars.

Boy, it sure is! Don't forget that the Orion has four seats, a treadmill, and a toilet! 😂

Not exciting to me. I've lived a lifetime of developing technology. And I've even contributed to a part of it. But I'd rather take care of the poor and the homeless now.  Unless we solve problems such as these, all the high-tech stuff in the world, or any world, won't matter.

Orion doesn't stop us doing that. Neither does Musk's endeavors. Politics does.

At 64, a fair amount myself. And it's even more apparent to me why access to space is vital.

Unless the human race finds a way to live on worlds beyond Earth, nothing will matter.

No sense arguing this. No one's mind is going to be changed on either side. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
