Got Friends goes with Duckworth.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Are they definitely compatible ? No conflicts at all ?

No, works very well together.

Yes Paul.  If you read the notes on both of their fs.to pages they say so.

The GotFriends is mainly an expansion pack, while Duckworths (Imenes) is all flight model work.
The way the Community folder works anyway, if one bit was to slightly over-write another bit, it will still be fine, as both know what they are doing.
These two are all you need.

Yes, there are a lot out there so I would be careful. This plane is awesome. The developer said there was some changes made that needs changing and added this fix.

"For those looking for a fix for DC-3 takeoff characteristics, and you have the ability to edit the flight model config file, try this ground effect table, lift_coef_ground_effect_mach_table = 0.055642:1.141188, 0.102462:1.094058, 0.196717:1.057306, 0.298358:1.041890, 0.400821:1.030873, 0.501642:1.024918, 0.601642:1.019753, 0.701642:1.015583, 0.8:1.010383, 0.9:1.005553, 1:1

But apart from that, he does an excellent job describing the design of the flight model and how it matches the real aircraft. Be careful of the mods used to the aircraft. Take a look at this interesting video that he describes how it flies and the comparison to the sim. I would check out the video first before using any mods. You may be surprised at some of the behaviors of the real DC-3.

Thanks for that, Rob - much appreciated.

I just wish there was a mod that kept the thing on the runway during roll out. In something like twenty practice landings over the last two days, not once have I been able to stop it going into the grass. Tried it with tail wheel lock on / off, with flight model mods installed / uninstalled, keeping it on its main wheels / getting the tail down so the locked tail wheel holds it straight, plus every permutation of the rudder pedal sensitivity curve that I can think of. None of my other tail-draggers behaves like this - specifically the DHC-2, Ant's Tiger Moth, Dave Garwood's Rapide and Flying Iron's F6F - it's only the DC-3

If you, or anyone else can offer some advice, I'd be grateful.

So which of the addons fix that weird behaviour  ?

Does the new CFD feature work with the DC-3?

Maybe if you run that when you land, you will see something wrong with the aircraft aerodynamics.

Well, I've applied the flight_model config edit ( lift_coef_ground_effect_mach_table = 0.055642:1.141188, 0.102462:1.094058, 0.196717:1.057306, 0.298358:1.041890, 0.400821:1.030873, 0.501642:1.024918, 0.601642:1.019753, 0.701642:1.015583, 0.8:1.010383, 0.9:1.005553, 1:1 ) to the Duckworths mod ( as opposed to the default flight_model.cfg ), watched the video above, and just managed two good landings at KEDW. A combination of the two mods, maybe...

Don't forget "DC-3 Enhanced" from the Marketplace.   It was released by Asobo / Aeroplane Heaven and it adds new 4k interior and ext textures.    There's a similar package for the A310 in the marketplace as well.

Keeping it straight on the runway on landing is definitely difficult even with the mod.

I have made a few ground loops myself!

It is being looked at.  Weight and balance can have a lot to do with it and it does need sorting out.

Not sure if the CG needs moving forwards or backwards. My physics fails me at this point.

I also think I need to change the tension spring position on my VKB rudder pedals as they're a bit light. That's an engineering project in itself. 😂

I miss the Manfred Jahn DC-3, it is a real masterpiece, this AH DC3 is a toy.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

I had issues with the AH until I watched the video and add -17 trim every time I take off. Flying the aircraft in regular service now. On landing I've gone in the grass a few times but remembering to really dance on the rudder pedals and my landings have improved. Had an improvement mod but removed it. Fly the aircraft you have, not the one your want/remember.
