Are you finding DX 12 performs better or equal to DX 11?

I'm getting 54 in DX11, Ultra, VR. I have no preference yet.  I my just go back to DX12 since both settings are smooth.

not for Pimax Crystal, standalone inside-out tracking. that's the one I am interested in.

This is interesting.

I see some thread hijackers!!

Just kidding - I'm very interested reading about your Pimax Crystal experiences.

I just got the 4080 today.  MASSIVE difference from my 1080 Ti in both 1440p and VR.  The 4080 install was a major PITA though...  getting the 3 vga cables plugged into my PSU while it was in the case was word not allowed near impossible.  I had to get my daughter to help as she has smaller hands lol!

I'll skip a bunch of 2d perf comparison and make an official Hardware forum post later with pics etc.

But in VR I'm now running 100% render scale with mostly high settings.  I did drop buildings and trees to medium and grass to off.  Clouds I set to high (I want to try ultra).

Initial Experience:  FlyTampa KBOS, Beta C700 Longitude (new avionics) pointing at the city with PG on, and heavy scattered clouds near the surface....  40-45 fps!  Previously about 13-17 with the same settings.  In flight a bit lower maybe 35-40 at 250 knots.... if I point my view/cockpit right at FT scenery.  Outside of that heavy hitting area I'm seeing 60-80 fps!!!  This is incredible and well worth it.  (1400 USD for the GPU and 300ish for the G2.... and 2100 for my 12700K system early this year lol).

Well why not, 1440p at 80 fps locked via NCP most areas....45-55 in areas like FT BOS.  (In this case I now become CPU limited by my 12700K..... time for a 13900K boys LOL!

here some more hijacking for your reading pleasure:

"DLSS 3.0 is not supported in VR."

DLSS 3.0 makes use of a new generation Optical Flow Accelerator (OFA) included in Ada Lovelace generation RTX GPUs. The new OFA is faster and more accurate than the OFA already available in previous Turing and Ampere RTX GPUs.[25] This results in DLSS 3.0 being exclusive for the RTX 4000 Series.

At release, DLSS 3.0 does not work for VR displays.

yes, best to insert the PCIe power cables on the card before installing the card into it's slot because of the 12VHPWR plug fiasco.

hearsay and facts are identical in this case:

I read this before (with regret). I still don't understand if it's impossible to implement DLSS 3.0 under VR at all or if it's just a question of time / further development.

Kind regards, Michael

Actually they have 3x pcie cables feed into a single adapter cable which connects to the card.  It was connecting the 3x pcie to my PSU that was a pain (because of right spaces hehe)

I'm stoked for your new VR setup, thanks for posting your experiences.  I had the same PSU cable connection joy when I installed my 3080 ti, replacing a 1070. Ended up not worrying about its cable management which I so carefully planned for the rest of my build.

Yeah I didn't have much room near the very bottom corner of my board so I just ran these cables over here.... oh well.  I have a dark tempered glass case so it's not really noticeable.

This card makes my board look like a postage stamp lol

So now we really know why tower cases are so spacious, so they can be filled with our monsterous air coolers.  Sporting a DH-15s in my build as well, and I thought my 3080 ti FTW3 was huge.  Nice pic, thanks; now back to VR sim flying.

Interesting video where Aero user goes back to G2 for a comparison. LOVED his 6DOF motion platform! 😃

If you've got a simpit like that (drool), you better be using an Areo.  I do agree though, as a G2 user, things could be better (but that is if price was no object).  Thanks for posting that video.
