Justsim in general should be avoided if possible.

P.S. does anyone know if you can disable static aircraft of Jarrad Marshalls scenery via ORBX Central?
I've took note that it's not possible here some time in the past.
Really want to get that scenery once the snow coverage bug is solved by Asobo.

Orbs is really nice, BUT here is something really annoying about it:

In the winter the runway is always covered with snow, I don’t know why, both runways, taxiway and appron are completely white, covered with snow.

what a shame when you know that Innsbruck airport is more active in the winter, I’m even considering going back to Asobo version just to see how it is during the winter

That's a general bug Asobo has not been able to fix for the last 2+ years.

Please vote on that topic and please file tickets about that issue to let Asobo know that it's a very significant issue for many simmers.

Just voted, I wasn't aware of the topic.

It's "bug-logged". Which means it will be solved within the next 8 years.

Kind regards, Michael

Listening to Sebastian in that linked video, it sounds like snow on runways, taxiways, aprons and roads had previously fixed, but was broken by an update (what's new?).
A “very easy fix to get that back to working as it was probably last winter” that they will “push this out as soon as we can with an upcoming update.”

Sounds like a fix is coming in SU12. Can only hope that is sooner rather than later.

No it’s not only Asobo’s fault, this week I decided to take a little break from the Caribbean and fly in snowy conditions in Europe. The flight was Helsinki-Vienna and back with the Fenix A320, because I have MK Studio Helsinki and Gaya Vienna, Finnair is operating this flight in a daily basis.

Helsinki had this week almost a snowstorm, I took of under snowfall and the landscape was covered with snow.
The airport was great, the texture was realistic and very nice, well done by MK Studio. So why couldn’t ORBX do it as good of a job

Orbx LOWI was released soon after MSFS' launch. MK-Studios EFHK was released over a year later, after SU6. Fair to say the SDK had significantly more functionality for use by MK-Studios than was available to Orbx.

Admittedly, it's frustrating that the early Orbx sceneries don't appear that they will receive any significant updates unless there's an entirely new version created. I imagine the reason is working on another developer's work is time consuming, not guaranteed to be as good and usually comes with the customer expectation of having to be free.

Exacly. Innsbruck was made by Jarrad Marshall, one of the best ORBX developers, if not the single best at all. One can have suspicions (and I do have) why he left, but without him and a number of other 1st tier developers gone and factoring in the trimmed forum, ORBX as a developer is only a shadow of itself those days.

Which I, as a longstanding avid ORBX customer since early FSX times, wholeheartedly regret.

Kind regards, Michael

Anyone on the beta who is willing to check Orbx LOWI with snow to see if the runway and taxiways can be seen now after the Asobo fix has been released ?

Thanks in advance.

I enter in the BETA last night only to being able to fly in the winter season and not breaking the immersion.

I can now say that, ORBX LOWI is much better in the BETA. The snow on the apron and runway now depend on the snow depth, if you have a lot of snow accumulations you will see an ice layer on the airport ground surface, this layer will be finer and looks much more realistic than before. The landscape can also be covered with a moderate snow accumulation and the airport ground surface will be excempt of any snow. Anyway, it is hard to describe but believe me it’s much better.

Pretty clear then that the snow/no snow is nothing to do with individual airports or individual developers
and everything to do with a fault in the simulator that at least in its beta form, is now fixed.
Quite a few necks need to be craned back in. 🙂

That's good to know 👍  A screenshot or two would be really helpful.
