December 5, 20223 yr I have never encountered this problem before, but suspect it's something that is easily remedied. Basically I'm wanting to move some sceneries that have been installed into my community folder and move them to my scenery addon linker folder. I think the issue is fairly self explanatory and help would be appreciated, thanks. December 5, 20223 yr The only ways I know how to do this are to use the unstoppable copier or to zip the folder, then move it and unzip it. Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
December 5, 20223 yr I have that issue too, but I go around it by using AddonsLinker. AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S
December 6, 20223 yr ZIp / move / unzip is my way around it. MS has crazy protections for MSFS folders.. Bert
December 6, 20223 yr I use the free Teracopy for this sort of thing: www.codesector.com/teracopy 1) Copy (not move) to your new destination. 2) If no errors, then delete the originals from the Community folder. December 7, 20223 yr A simple solution is to rename Community to something else, e.g., Community_bak. Its files can then be moved wherever you want. And if you use Addons Linker, you will never again have to move any actual files in or out of Community -- only links.

Can't cut and paste, can't delete, can't copy, nothing! This suggests a different problem that I am not familiar with. Once you have renamed the Community folder, it should be possible to do anything you want with the files contained in it. Are you saying this is not the case? You DO have MSFS turned off, correct? Edited December 7, 20223 yr by cobalt

Tried renaming the folder, no change and yes, MSFS is off. Anything created/installed in the MSFS packages folder is encrypted/protected. I'm guessing this trick only works for the Steam version <?>. @Rockcliffe - Teracopy is your best solution. It's quite quick and easy.

And it is not true that everything in the packages folder is encrypted. If that were so, add-ons wouldn't work! Edited December 7, 20223 yr by cobalt
