holy night, not so silent night. you should have heard me cursing:

to install the GPU into an already fully loaded case is no fun. took me 1 1/2 hours. it's time the manufacturers of pc cases, motherboards, power supplies, GPU, cable and CPU cooler all meet and come up with a proper design where  everything lives in perfect harmony side be side. considering the absolute high tech in CPUs and GPUs, installing it all is stone age low tech.

live and let live. you feel sorry, I feel happy.

was "only" 1.763 + tax. same as my previous 3090 "cashgrab". I feel more sorry we didn't get a christmas tree, fortunately our neighbours came by and brought us home made cookies. came back from a vacation the day before christmas. the RTX 4090 sat 5 days outside on the porch covered in snow and ice while we were gone. 😅

The 3090 was not a cashgrab. This is .

Not mention that it is even more of a waste of money to upgrade from a 30xx to a 40xx card.

I mean you do you, but you really fell hook line and sinker for NVIDIA'S dirty game.

thanks very much for reminding us. You are right, tomorrow I will pull the card out and resell it, even make a slight profit now that the price has already gone up. how could I be so thoughtless, and waste my own money. how irresponsible. too much LDS.

Oh for gods sake! Why didn't someone gift you a proper Christmas present like a pair of socks, or a box on mince pies?

It's Christmas! Why not be happy for him, and pleasant, rather than trying to make him feel bad about getting a 4090.

This is not the time for such behaviour. Its the time to consider the feelings of others.

and how he does! reminds me of my boyhood times, when we had to wait until 6 p.m. on christmas eve before we could open the first boxes, then surprise after surprise. this time I waited full 3 days knowing exactly whats inside that box and started 2 hours early at 4 p.m, but only because I knew I needed some daylight time to squeeze this bulky oversized GPU in. 2 hours, some scratches and with more screws left over than I had begun with later, I am now perfectly happy. Until the new CPUs are released in 2023. but that's what birthdays are for.

thanks to all those great pc engineers, software developers, youtube benchmarkers, avsim forum early adopters (Capt. Piet et al.), you have all contributed to the next best thing to real flying - MSFS @ 70 fps and 40 fps in VR.

😊

6pm on Christmas Eve? You were lucky. In my part of the world we had to wait until Christmas Day until we were given permission to get up and out the rolled up newspaper all 38 of us used to sleep in, 3 hours before we went to bed and just before we had to start a 200 day shift at local mill. We'd open our presents which were a spit and salt sandwich and if we were lucky we'd have half a mouldy orange.....if we were lucky. We'd then have to lick snow off garden path and use the salt from our presents to keep it clear and then off to mill for 200 day shift with no lunch break before getting home and going back to sleep in our rolled up newspaper just in time to get back up before we got in. If we were really really lucky our father would thrash us to death with his belt which helped us sleep much better.

But you tell that to the kids today and they won't believe you.

Some of you will get the referrence, most of you won't🤣

Merry Christmas all.

is this from the new netflix "Christmas carol, reloaded"?

to be honest, when we were young we also had to wait until December 25, after we had come back from church at 2 p.m in full day light. when the magic and mystery of the holy night was long gone and christmas literally over in my view. later my parents became lenient and effeminate and let us open the boxes already on the evening of the 24th. sic transit gloria mundi.

and I thought writing those long Christmas wish letters with hand made paintings to all 4 of our grand parents (who had to re-imburse Santa Claus) telling them how much we loved them especially just before christmas and how we cared for their health and well being was punishment enough.
