Audio stutters

Featured Replies

anyone getting this ?. updated to latest studio driver ( DDU) yesterday and getting terrible audio stutter with sim stutter as well. reverted back to previous driver and still the same. uninstalled the ASUS Sonic audio rubbish and intel as well just leaving the Realtek driver. Re installed the latest Studio driver made no difference . Funny thing is its only in flight , using the FENIX/ FSTL/ FSrealistic . on a hunch Iam suspecting FSTL . going to uninstall it and carry out the flight again . not had this issue for a very long time ?

I had this randomly recently.  Usually when i had this before it was right before a CTD, but I was able to complete the flight, but with the audio cut outs.

I have a similar issue on my SteelSeries Headset (with their software + driver) where audio starts to crack on a very random basis. I have not updated Nvidia in about a month but I do have a 527.37 currently. This has been ongoing for months.

Mine is on USB A - was on the rear port directly to the board, currently on the tower's top USB-A and really no difference.

I’ve had stutter for 12 months every 20 minutes or so and completely random it seems . Finally think it’s been solved by one of two changes. I did two changes together not sure which one was the solution but not rolling either back !

1.  Change the Intel WiFi Transmit Power settings

Step 1. Press Windows and R at the same time to open the Run command.

Step 2. Type devmgmt.msc, click OK and then select Device Manager.

Step 3. Click Network adapters, right-click on your Intel WiFi driver, and then select Properties.

Step 4. Open the Advanced tab, find Property, and then click Transmit Power entry.

Step 5. In Transmit Power, change the value to 3, and then click on OK.

Now you just need to reboot your PC, and check if the Windows 11 audio cracking problem is resolved.

2.  I installed advanced system care ( free)   When I ran the optimiser it suggested I make one change I can’t remember the exact wording something like “ your system interrupt  delay is set too high do you want to amend it “. This is something I believe part of the pc is waiting for instructions and the wait causes sound stutter reducing the wait time allows the  sound to continue through as normal. It’s a windows setting not a driver

I literally have been going insane trying to sort over 12 months in all games reinstalled so many drivers so many times without success.  Now had 3 sessions with shut downs in between each one. Total game time 6 hours no stutter or crackling I have everything crossed one of these has fixed it !!! Hope it helps

Also check if your audio driver is forcing some specific sample rate, 192 KHz for example.

I had audio crackling when my Asus Xonar audio driver was forcing 192 KHz sample rate AND FSRealistic was enabled. When I did set the sample rate to 48 KHz the crackling stopped.

I do get some audio crackles and stutters when FSRealistic is running (that disappear when FSR is closed).  It's adding a lot of simulataneous audio channels.   I don't think it's a problem with FSR objectively, just that I have a modest CPU and may be pushing it with so many multiple channels of audio playing simulatenously.

Still testing,  but the issue could be my powered USB hub I've swapped it out for an old none powered one and so far so good

It appears I am still having issues on my SteelSeries Artic 7 with latest drivers and SteelSeries GG software, USB receiver on rear port direct to Mobo OR on case mounted top port. I have tried lowering the Intel Wifi Transmit Power Setting and sample rate changes int eh Windows Audio settings panel , that highest available is 48 kHz, I've lower to 44.1 kHz as the next lowest available but still hear the same crackling within a few minutes regardless. I assume it has to do with CPU utilization/responsiveness but still can't quite fix it.

Always worth opening Device Manager in Windows and checking that the "Allow Windows to close this device when not used, to conserve power" (not exact words) in the Advanced tab of properties is unchecked.

If it's checked it can cause problems with any device, from controllers to sound cards.
