Carenado Cessna 182

Featured Replies

Kinda off topic ish, but how is the 182 flight characteristics? I used to fly a 182 RW and loved it. Would love to have a good flying 182 in the sim but I know Carenado has always been an eye candy type of addon more than anything else.

I can't tell if it is realistic, as I have never flown one in real life, but it is similar to the Asobo C172 of course, but with more power.  It is very stable, and nice to fly.  I actually quite like it.
I think it is a great aircraft for beginners.  I don't class myself as a complete beginner, but I do actually enjoy flying it.  Maybe watch Jonathon Beckett's video (he does a lot of good stuff).  He has just tested the updated version, and he makes nice, not too long videos.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Arming the HDG and VS on the ground before take off. AP should not be on.... . Then as you fly out on runway headiing, gain an altitude of about 1000 feet, you would turn the AP and let it take over. At least that's the way I fly. Also the ILS and RNAV isn't working with the 182 update. We just never had a problem until they did the update. I can stick with the Kodiak for awhile, till this is all sorted out. But again I do appreciate all the input you give me and appreciate you all trying to help tis old guy out. Happy Flying. Walt

I believe this was explained above... Autopilots are not all the same..

In the C182 you cannot arm HDG and VS on the ground.

That may be the way you fly, but not with this autopilot. 🙂

According to a (real world) KAP140 autopilot manual I found on the internet it is assumed that when operating the autopilot "The aircraft is well off the ground and established at a safe climb rate."
