February 4, 20233 yr Apparently there's a scenery recut in this one but there's an issue w/ the updater. If you're not using Steam, have to run the installer/updater from the command line. Also have to select "Update Scenery Online" button in the installer to get the new dsf files. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/282985-xp1203r1-released/&do=findComment&comment=2502947 Edited February 4, 20233 yr by blingthinger Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...
February 4, 20233 yr Does this mean new textures? If so, any screenies? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
February 4, 20233 yr Seems there are a few things to be sorted regarding the process of release. Best wait a few days or so then try again. At the moment the installer cannot update correctly for the scenery.
February 4, 20233 yr It depends on you location (different server). I had no problem downloading the whole recut-scenery (52 GB total for me). i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
February 4, 20233 yr By the way: i was hoping for an update of the mesh because of the terrain-issue at PANC, LTFM etc. But unfortunately they didn’t fix that yet. It’s just a removal of some trees and other objects around airports for scenery-designer not having to set exclusion-zones anymore. i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
February 4, 20233 yr According to a post over on the Org, you won't get the scenery update on the non-Steam version until the release is declared "final". If you want the scenery recut now rather than waiting, you can run the X-Plane updater via the command line. To do so in Windows, run the following command from inside the X-Plane installation directory: ./X-Plane\ 12\ Installer --install_name="X-Plane 12.03r1" That launches the Updater and from there you can choose the "Update Scenery" option and you'll get it. For Mac users the command is: open ./X-Plane\ 12\ Installer.app --args --install_name="X-Plane 12.03r1" Linux users probably don't need me to tell them how to run command from the command line. 🙂
February 4, 20233 yr We Linux users may be smarter than those using the other two operating systems, but we're just as lazy. Hence: ./X-Plane\ 12\ Installer\ Linux --install_name="X-Plane 12.03r1" And just to set some expectations regarding the content of this update straight: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/282985-xp1203r1-released/&page=2#comment-2502828 https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/282985-xp1203r1-released/&page=3#comment-2502884 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
February 7, 20233 yr The update has also stuffed the way aircraft lights on a lot of addons payware and non payware function or work. I had good lights yesterday on the Aerostar and Dash8 today after update 3 no lights functioning on either, internal or external.
February 7, 20233 yr The issue with updating the scenery appears to be fix for anyone still waiting. You can download normally using the installer "update scenery online", no option or and any special commands needed.
February 8, 20233 yr Well, when I first ran the updater a few days ago it always told me that the version on my disk was already up-2-date, so I searched and found that I had to run, assuming the updater executable lays in the XP12 root folder, and from a command line starting there: "X-Plane 12 Installer" --install_name="X-Plane 12.03r1" Then the "Update Scenery Online" worked, and downloaded a few Gigs (I don't have the Whole World). Finally when the updater process was fixed last night I ran it again and both "Update XP" and "Update Scenery" gave the "already up2date" message, so I assume all is ok now. February 8, 20233 yr Decide to wait and downloading the scenery update now! Bjoern's link was very informative - seems they have a new exclusion process which tidies up all those little anomalies near and around airports and the approaches and a big hint to those creating scenery they do not need to do this sort of exclusion process any more! I can see why it is has spun out to 54 GB world wide. Lots of good improvements held out and progressively to be introduced over the next 12 months. Still I am very happy with what is there already - leaves the old cut and paste texture blocks of FSX/P3D looking very tatty indeed! Now it just gets better. Good stuff!
