Hi Jack,

Have you simply watched Task Manager to see what might be happening every 60 sec?

Run MSFS in  windowed mode, just park an airplane at a simple airport.

Start up Task Manager (right click on the bottom Windows bar)  and select the Processes tab.

Click on the %CPU bar at the top which sorts the running processes by CPU usage.

Sit and watch and see what Processes appear and disappear in the top section.

Hi Bert and thanks.  Yes but it’s too fast.  It flickers whatever it is.  I have the GoPro set up.  I’m finally able to sit here and see what I can see.  Just turned on the PC.  Will keep ya’ll posted.

Don't let ProcMon scare you, it monitors way more information than you need.  Run ProcMon and the sim at the same time.  ProcMon will have a bunch of scrolling data on-screen.  With the sim running, let the sim do its 1 minute pause thing, and note the exact system time of the pause (in your taskbar, system tray, click on the clock/time), and I would probably let it do another pause and note that time as well.

Then switch to ProcMon, and in ProcMon's menu's there is an option to stop the auto-scroll.  On the left of the ProcMon window will be a time stamp for each line of data -- find the exact time where your pause occurred...and you'll see all sorts of data on what files were accessed and their paths...hopefully that will shed light on the process(es) that were causing the pause.

Grant you, I'm not in front of my fs rig at the moment, and I may not remember precisely the ProcMon bits, but suffice to say it is a very useful program that can be overwhelming, but you only need it for this one specific thing.  To see what the system is doing at one precise moment.

@Bert Pieke I think he tried looking at Task Manager but that is often an exercise in futility because the offending cpu-hog appears and disappears in a flash, before you can see what it was sometimes.  ProcMon is more of a log utility and gives the exact path of the file being accessed.

@Jack_Sawyer you could also have JetLine take a look at it since they built your rig.  They'd probably charge you a fee, but I think it would be worth it, I know pauses like that can be very aggravating.

Thanks.  Going to try this now.  Will post back with any results.

I have ProcMon running and just loaded MSFS but a box popped up telling me I had a monitor program running and I should stop running it.  I closed the box and am letting MSFS run.  Hopefully it will.

As for Jetline, I tried.  They never return my calls so I don’t know if they’re even dead or alive.

The GTNXI will complain.. only rebooting the PC after will fix that.

Yes, it wouldn’t even allow the TDS 750 to run.  Not at all.

I used ProcMon and did what he described but I’ll be doggone if I can figure it out.

So I copied every line from 6:57 PM to 6:58 PM and then from 6:58 PM to 6:59 PM and pasted them into a couple of Notepad files.  I can post them if it would help as I can’t see any rhyme or reason yet it did to the precise 60 second pause nonsense.

Did you check whether this overlay thingammy was enabled again, eg after a Steam update? Just a shot in the dark though as I don’t use MSFS on Steam…

Hello, yes, the first thing I did.  It was unticked in Steam and then in Process Lasso it was still in the box where it's forced to not run.

Time lapse?  Why on Earth would I do that?  That would defeat the purpose wouldn't it? 🥺

I can see the sim pausing.

Here's what I did so far:

Ran ProcMon and then the sim.

Waited for the pauses to start, it took several minutes to actually start but when they did it was at precise 60 second intervals.

I let it to it three times.

Then I did as he advised above in this post, I then copied all the entries from those time intervals and saved them to a Notepad file.

I quit the sim and ProCMon and set up the GoPro and ran Task Manager.

I waited for the pauses and when they happened I had my iPhone's stopwatch going so I could know when the pause happened and when it did I watched Task Manager but didn't see anything pop up.

So I ran the GoPro and waited and video'd it but again, I didn't see anything obvious.  I haven't had a chance to look at the video yet though.

Here's the notepad files if anyone's interested.

Does the GoPro not allow you to look at the movie in slo-mo?

Dunno.  It's been a long time since I used it, I used to use it hiking two years ago.  I'm gonna load the video into my Mac now and look at it.

Wow, good eye and nicely done Bert.  You've always amazed me.  I have no idea what it's doing though.  Earlier today I went through every last Steam setting and made sure everything that could be unticked was unticked.

You can set a filter in Procmon to include or exclude processes..

You could look for steam only or exclude flightsim and see what else happens..

I don't know what gave anyone the idea that posting a 500+ line log file to the forums is acceptable, but to be clear it is NOT.

Gosh, sorry Bob.  Honestly, if I knew this I would not have posted it and I didn’t know it was that many lines. Can i delete these?  Can you?  Again, my sincere apologies.

Zip up the file and put it in Dropbox. Then you can post the link.
