I love helis, and my favorite is the Cowansim 500E.

I also like the free Cabri, and the 407 somewhat.

I have the Hype H145 and both payware 206's, I like the Cowansim best. OK that is just me the fly inside is great as well. The Hype is great as well, just too easy to fly to be serious fun.

So I decided to try the $12 payware R22 that just came to the store.

Pretty crude modeling and behavior. The blades are permanently drooping and don't change in flight at all. They have at least on my system an irritating flicker out the canopy.

Also the flight model seems really crude. Very different from even the Cabri. Almost none of the switches seem to work at least for me.

OK is anything good with this model. Yes it is kind of fun to fly and very good at FPS. Very easy to master, unrealistically so IMHO, this makes it fun to just fly around and take in the great scenery in MSFS. 

Would I buy it again, no. Would I recommend it to someone into helis, no. 

But for someone just wanting to easily maneuver around and feel like you are in a heli, yes I can see it being a easy gentle experience with great FPS.

Thanks for taking one for the team on this.  I am a huge fan of the Hughes OH-6 "Cayuse" and my buddy gave me a heads-up yesterday that MSSCENERY now has one available.  After taking a look at the pics (he'd noticed that the hangar shot had the skids sinking into the ground) and hearing about their poor reputation I was able to withstand the urge to buy it.  

The CowanSim MD-500E is definitely close 'nuff anyway and extremely hard to beat.

The GotFriends mini-500 is the one to get.  Not much more in terms of price ($15), real good fun to fly, and very well finished.  Only a single seater of course.

MScenery is one to avoid for sure.  Is it the same company that spams low quality payware airports?

Avoid everything by MScenery at all costs.   Absolutely stealing a living (if they are actually making money) .  They are specialists in developing the lowest quality tat to rip off unsuspecting customers.

The freeware R44 is leagues above anything MScenery will ever produce.  The GotFriends mini500 is a steal for beginners to helis for $15

That is what is so disappointing about the marketplace. 
They take so long to upload stuff (due to their checking process apparently), but nobody ever questions if it is actually good enough or if people are just performing a cash grab.
It will never change because they just check the technicalities of the upload, not if it appears to be good quality or not.
Maybe they should have a better customer review process / star marking system - making the reviews more visible.
The trouble is, some poor bugger still has to go first to buy the thing to review it.

So true.  As long a MS make their cut they don't seem to give a word not allowed about what gets sold (Apart from weapons of course... Will no one think of the children!)

Just one of a long list of reasons why I'll never buy from the marketplace.

I think in a recent stream ‘they’ said they don’t want to be judging content just checking it works or doesn’t cause crashes. I think a written review system is needed so we can make more informed choices, sure no review system is perfect but the present marketplace review system, leaves a lot to be desired. 
 

The current tailback in the approval process is ridiculous though.

Just got it and it is great.

For some strange reason though the G530 on my 500 does not work correctly, maybe the next time I start the sim up again I will. I had to buy direct from GotFriends as the MP did not have it yet.

I prefer the MP, so easy to update. I don't care if it takes a while for updates, I have over 50 models to fly and 4 sims so...

As this helicopter is new, it is probably designed to use the new and much improved WT G530 in the sim, as GotFriends are very up to speed with things such as this.  So have you updated to the new WT530 in the MSFS Marketplace / Content Manager?

Yes I have and it works great in other models.

I will do more testing this afternoon if it rains.
