So, definitely Two Weeks, then...? 😉

Definitely at least a slight possibility.

  • 3 months later...

What happened to this project, why no mention of it in 4 months after it never released end of 2024 as predicted?

Is it dead for now?

People involved all say it's still in development but beyond that no meaningful information has been released.

We're still working on it.

All our time is dedicated to the TBM at the moment.

Thank you for all the tips! And especially the tip with linking the OrbX scenery to XP12 is important because nice satellite images is important for immersion. I have seen on the OrbX website that all stuff is only available for XP11 that´s why I thought XP11 might be the better choice.

So this means for example this one:

https://orbxdirect.com/product/us-washington-xp11

(dedicated only for XP11) will work in XP12? 🙂 Wonderful!

Yes, generally speaking you can use XP v11 scenery without issue in XP v12.

The trick with Orbx is to keep XP v11 installed so that will allow OrbxDirect to install all your v11 scenery.

The short term easiest thing is then just to copy the v11 scenery to your V12 Custom Scenery folder.

A longer term solution is to invest into something like xOrganizer or learn the very simple process to make symlimks in Windows so you don't have to keep two copies of those very large Orbx sceneries.

I have XP11 with all the Orbx True Earth (and many others) sceneries installed.  All I have done is linked to those sceneries in XP12, so you can fly with them in XP12.

Greetings. I too would like to link my ORBX sceneries to XP12. The link may be staring right at me on how to do this but I do not see it. It might be an age thing. I sure would like to link the true earth SUA items. Please post the link again. thanks.

Flew the CL650 last night. Brilliant aircraft. My only complaint is the need to assign a completely different button on my Hotas 1 for parking brake. Not sure why CL650 parking brake needs a separate button from all the other ones. I do have a button that I am not using that I ended up assigning, but it's still inconvenient. Does anyone know the method behind the madness?

Please see my post just above yours.

If you want to use the same copy in v12 to save space, you should spend $15 on xToolbox, available at the .org store.

--or--

You can look into how to create standard Windows filesystem Symlinks/Junctions. This is a native feature of Windows and the tool, "mklink", is built right in to the OS.

This is actually what the Orbx app does in the background to enable installing their scenery on other drives/location while X-Plane sees them as installed in the Custom Scenery folder.

MkLink involves just a bit of Windows command line work, and a quick Google search will bring up scads of examples.

My honest advice is that xToolbox is the better way to go. It's quite a versatile tool, and gives lots of benefits beyond MkLink.

correction: xToolbox, not xOrganizer, is the linking software I was thinking of (I have both 😉 )

xToolbox

Thank you. I'll look into that. having the west coast US True Earth for XP12 would be great.

Dave

I have my ORBX sceneries in a separate ORBX library folder from XP11. In order to link them will they need to be moved to a folder within XP11? Then link them to XP12?

Thanks for the guidance. I'm a beginner at this sort of thing.

No you don't have to move them if you use either xToolbox or write the MkLink command.

The scenery files stay exactly as they are, all thats happening is a transparent link from where they are right now into XP v12's Custom Scenery folder.

Again, for e.g., that's exactly the same process the Orbx app uses to install it in the first place.

I'm other words, you don't need to do anything with the currently installed scenery files. Just use xToolbox to create the 'shortcuts".
