I'd really like to purchase/use the new AN 225, but every time I try to do so, I get the error "something went wrong."  I've been looking for a way to contact Miscrosoft to see if a resolution can be found, but no luck so far.  Anyone have any ideas how I can resolve this?

I got that error (I'm on the Steam version). The problem was the 'wallet' inside the Steam website. I had to use the internet Steam page and log onto that (not the normal Steam gateway app which doesn't show your wallet payment methods). And go to my account and enter a new payment method. Then there was not any more "something went wrong" messages. 

I suppose with the Microsoft store version that error message might also be in the method you use pay for purchases.

It was only after WU 12 that this error message ever happened to me.

Run the following commands in Powershell (admin rights)…

Go through each of the following steps one at a time. Copy each line, one at a time , paste it into the Dos window (crtl + V) and press return

and it will then run. Wait until each runs and finishes before you move on to the next one.

When you are completely finished, Restart your computer and then try to see in MS2020 will start and run properly

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth

sfc /scannow

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

RESTART your computer as the last step.

For God's sake @andyjohnston.net I hope you don't follow this (likely well-intentioned) advice!  Fielder has it right in his post above.  It's an error on the back-end transactional side between MS and Steam.  If you're not using the Steam version I'd be surprised but would look at your MS Store setup. BTDT.

That advice is well known to aid in one cleaning up the OS image and ensuring the OS is corrupt free.

I'm not sure what to say.  I've tried countless times to purchase the 225 always with the same result.  I've logged out and back in to MS account, removed and readded my credit info etc, but always get the same message whether I try to buy/download or buy.

Just tried again with the same result, have attempted dozens of times now to buy this.

 

Just tried to buy something else from the marketplace to test, got the same result.  Ok, looks like I'm not allowed to get anything.  I'll add this to the long list of issues I'm having with MSFS.

Users do not need to mess around with Powershell and their OS installation to get the MSFS Marketplace working! Stoopy was right.  Every issue I have ever had with buying from the Marketplace (and I've had quite a few) have been resolved by restarting my PC, opening up the MS Store app and leaving it opened, and then launching MSFS not as adminstrator.    This was the advice from MS back in 2020 when the sim launched and lot's of people had problems buying from the Marketplace.   It still always works for me when I have issues.

A lot less "sledgehammer" than messing with your OS in Powershell.

If you have the Steam version of MSFS, do you have the Steam overlay activated in Steam and MSFS ? I had to enable them to purchase the Caribou.

Incorrect. One is not messing around with the OS when running these commands. A lot of folks have run those commands and what do you know...

Back up and flying again.
