March 8, 20233 yr Evening all. Currently have a 4070ti. Trying to find whats the best settings to use for 1440p?. DX11 vs DX12 (Frame Generation) , should i lock my frames in the NVCP? Appreciate if someone can share your experience and settings with these cards. Trying to find the optimal settings. Not after FPS but a smooth ride. Cheers and thanks in advance. I do max frame rate at 143 (might be just fine at 144 but I read some weird thing about setting it 1 hz less than refresh rate) via NCP And then make sure gsync is enabled, and then HAGS will need to be enabled to use frame gen. And yes...DX12 with FG is the way to go all day every day. Note that the default MSFS Dev FPS counter does NOT show the frames correctly - so don't be bummed out. You'll need like Steam fps overlay or I use MSI Afterburner to get fps overlay. Once in the sim I basically just set Ultra everything (except my personal preference is glass refresh rate to medium, Bloom and lens flare OFF)....sometimes I set traffic to OFF since I use FSLTL. Oh I also forgot don't forget to set power management mode to Prefer Max performance Oh forgot to ask what's your system specs? I wonder which setting to use for v sync either in the NVCP and in sim !!! Might be a slight issue then. Using frame gen without at least a gsync compatible monitor could make a lot of vsync tears and visual artifacts. There is a guy running a 60hz monitor here without gsync - I'm not certain of settings in that case. I guess just start playing around with vsync. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

(I have a 4080) no stutters at all. I encountered by first stutter last night flying from Dulles to KBOS. I was flying over KJFK in very crowded airspace at FL250 on a mostly clear day. It had to load in the traffic, NYC, the airports... if stuttered for maybe a second or two then it was smooth sailing to KBOS. Pretty amazing stuff.
March 8, 20233 yr We seem to have started a thread on the same subject at the same time... Perhaps the mods can merge them. At any rate, some discussion there that may help you as well.

Every initial load I get a large pause probably 10 seconds or so then it's almost always smooth unless I go heavy on the addons. And I do go heavy on them. FSWC414 / Carenado PC12 with dual TDS GTNxi, heavy weather and then payware like FlyTampa BOS.... In that test scenario I will receive a few stutters (but I also have a ton of new england scenery addons). I usually get about 80 fps in frame gen or 40 without in that heavy scenario. Also added a short 5 second clip... I just loaded the intense scenario and dragged my mouse around to make the view go wild lol. 70-80 fps while doing that with ultra settings. AI was off during this test. FSLTL will introduce a few extra stutters when I enable that...but only in these heavy weather and addons scenarios. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0exfmabc8rtgl2t/20230308_173237_1.mp4?dl=0 Edited March 8, 20233 yr by ryanbatc | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I have the same card and for me 12GB VRAM is not enough for 3440x1440p at most add-on airports so I use DX-11, if you use DX-12 and have a G-Sync monitor I recommend you to lock fps at 141 fps in NVCP (3 fps lower than your monitors refreshrate) no other settings are necessary. January 17, 20242 yr I'm currently refresing at 60hz at 4K with a 4090. I find best results having vsync OFF in the SIM but ON in the NVCP. The in-game vsync seems to have a lot of latency or at least it does on my setup. The only other setting I have in NVCP is Prefer Max Performance. Hi Ryan, Do you use VSync and if so inside the game or NCP Why do you turn off bloom. (I dont really understand what it does) Does setting a frame rate really help. (Seems like a lot of viewpoints on this). My monitor is a LG at 165hz (Should I set it to 164hz) Also are you using DSR factors from the Holy Grail setup Ron Edited January 18, 20242 yr by Ron Lefebvre Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name.
