March 28, 20233 yr I was making a flight from VGJR to VGHS. During the climb, cruise, descent flight was fine with FMS and VNAV. I chose VGHS ILS RW 14. But the Longitude can't intercept and capture localizer. I had initial flaps, speed 180, intercept angle 40 deg. Inbd crs 144 deg, freq 109.50. I can see dashed localizer indication in the PFD, also freq is correct. At intercept, FMS or HDG mode changes to ROL. Any idea please? Regards, Haseen Ahmad.
March 28, 20233 yr for info, probably won't help 😵 but i just did that little flight to test. Everything was programmed in the FMS (VGJR -> IBANU -> Approach ILS14 with transition MIMAR -> VGHS) Around 10 NM from the IDA localizer i clicked on the APPR button (LOC and GS appeared armed 'white' on the main panel). Around 7.5 miles from IDA the autopilot source auto-switched from GPS to NAV1, LOC indicator turned green and, after a few seconds, GS turned green too and the plane flew the ILS approach flawlessly until the runway, so it should work for you too. My guess is that maybe you clicked on APPR mode to quickly or too late (or maybe not at all and maybe it's required, not sure) .. I'm not a real pilot, so my procedure/hints might be all wrong 😁 🍻 Edited March 28, 20233 yr by Bad_T

I tried the flight again. it appears that AP is unable to capture LOC if APP is pressed at an intercept angle. I had to establish the plane on the final approach path 10 to 12 miles out either by heading or NAV(FMS). If then APP is pressed it can capture/maintain LOC and then eventually GS. But this is contrary to the other add-on airplanes I fly like PMDG 737, IniBuilds A310, Leonardo MD82 or Fenix A320 where they can capture LOC from an intercept angle. So, is that a bug or is it designed that way? Regards, Haseen Ahmad.
March 29, 20233 yr There are four different ILS approaches to RW 14 at DAC: VOR DME-ARC ILS RWY 14 DA ARC ILS RWY 14 VOR DME ILS RWY 14 NDB ARC ILS RWY 14 Which one did you choose and what was your last enroute waypoint before trying to intercept the localizer? Was there a discontinuity in your flight plan?
March 29, 20233 yr Author Asanosho VOR DME ARC ILS RWY 14. MIMAR transition. Last waypoint before transition, I don't remember exactly, the one before lining up with localizer IDA. Haseen Ahmad.
