Scrolled for over two minutes and never found my 10700 just to get started.  Site needs a better user interface.

Frank,

In the processor box type10700 - it will show up then.

Cheers

I’ll wager you probably are cpu limited in a lot of scenarios but just not aware as your overall usage may only appear ~50% but at least one core will be at or around 100%. If you are just using Windows task manager, try a different tool

or use detailed CPU view in task manager. this will reveal in my example:

only 33% overall CPU usage

while game main core is nearly exhausted at 90%, while other cores run at only 20% load.

statistics like "33% overall CPU load" don't mean anything in a multicore CPU when core loads are spread so unevenly as in MSFS.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

What resolution?  You'll be happy I believe as long as you're at 1440p or higher.

Hey Ryan,

I run 3840 x 2160 on my Sony X90J

I’m going to check again today because I’ve done this in the past and have never seen a single core at 90 plus percent. If anything the core usage seems to be pretty balanced on my rig, not sure if that is a Win 11 optimization with the newer CPU’s.

Ultimately I’m looking for frame generation with some headroom for the future. I know the fps will dip from time to time depending on the situation but even when this happens the overall fps would still remain pretty high.

I’ve just been doing some research regarding which manufacturer to go for and I’ve read some alarming stuff about really bad coil whine with a lot of the 4090’s from different manufacturers. My EVGA FTW3 3090 is near silent. Gigabyte cards seem to be the quietest and Asus & MSI seem to have a ton of complaints about coil whine.

Any of you 4090 owners care to comment on your experiences

Yes you would definitely benefit from the 4090.  You'll have to run DX12 though to get frame gen.  I got a MSI Gaming Trio X for my 4080 and it's very quiet - no issues

Depends very much on OS / Hardware combination. My 8 Performance cores all run more or less at same load thanks to the Win 11 Thread Manager/Scheduler, no such thing as a "main core" here.

Exactly - Win 11 combined with 12th/13th gen Intel CPUs work like that.

Got a Palit Omniblack 4090 here and no coil whine at all. My previous 3090 FE had a small amount at certain fps.

I will say one of the fans on my Gigabyte 4090 has started rattling at certain RPMs. Zero coil whine though.
