VL-3 Autopilot

Featured Replies

I was watching a video using the JMB VL-3.  The author stated that MS removed the autopilot feature and that he put it back.  That is my question. How do you put the autopilot in the VL-3?

Wow.  Didn’t even know!  Thanks darahonaut and thanks to OP for making me ask.

Slightly off topic, but I think there are some great standard aircraft in the sim that never get used.
The VL-3 and a lot of the Diamond aircraft in the sim are quite good with the small mods from FS.to in particular.
And I flew the Pipistrel Virus around for many days when I was first getting used to the sim - it was great fun, especially for sight-seeing.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

That little aircraft was a surprise joy to fly when I first jumped in it! I would love to see a Black Square version of that little bundle of fun. It is a very unrecognized airplane in MSFS that I think gets overlooked quite often.

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

I can get the autopilot to hold an altitude and follow a heading.  How do I get it to follow a flight plan from waypoint to waypoint? Pressing NAV doesn't seem to do it.

I was a part of a Rotax 915is mod that allowed the use of the touch screen G3X AP.  I don't really fly it much anymore and I'm not sure the default VL3 has it.  The default is really slow anyway so I would recommend the Rotax 915is mod:

Once you get it, click on the black upper portion of the PFD to popup the AP controls.  The G3X is touchscreen based.

Also it just dawned on me that the touch AP may have been from the old WT G3X mod...

You can try it here:

Ryan:

If there are autopilot controls, I can't find them.  I can find the flight plan and can add waypoints and procedures but, no autopilot controls.

If you click on the area in red an AP screen should popup

If nothing pops up then you need the WT G3X mod I linked.

Thanks Ryan.  It does need the old version of the G3X.
