Gotta say, the most exciting news for me relates to the WT improvements on the 747-8. Videos on the MajorTom YT channel flying the 747 (SaltySim mod) have always inspired me to fly the 747. His work is fantastic. As an aside, any idea what he uses for the background chatter? Is that part of FSRealistic?

Yes, he uses FSRealistic, plus he pulls sounds from a number of real world videos. He usually lists the other videos he uses for sound effects in the credits.

That's really cool WT managed to get the runway outlines on the HUD working, PMDG still can't make it work flawlessly on their 737.

I got the same impression. The way they reacted suggests to me that they are working on an ATC revamp, but like they said... it's a long road.

The way they all went quiet, surely, it's on all of their minds and will maybe be the surprise for SU13?

Personally I don't really care about ATC. I'd much rather see the ground handling overhaul. But given that the "best people" are working on it (assuming Seb) it's probably a nice change of scenery for him.

I think the difference is related to WT just using the precise data as available in the sim, whereas PMDG is restricting themselves to use only what's available in-flight on the real aircraft.

yeah they might be operating on the basis that the aircraft should only use information that would be available on board a real aircraft? that could explain why they need the magvar table

Edit: What exactly is the problem with the runway outlines in the HUD of the 737? I have to admit, I've never flown with the HUD, so I'm just curious.
