Captain Sim aircraft any good?

Featured Replies

I bought them in the $9.99 sale and they are ok, once you do the needed workarounds.

They are absolutely worth it at full price though, IMO.

As I fly both P3D and XP interchangeably, I'd say CS757/767 feels even better than FF757/767 in current state.

Sure FF757/767 have failure system, but that doesn't really work as deep as PMDG/FSL/Toliss party.

Some system like bleed air and probe heater, CS got more accurate model, and quite noticeable in normal operation.

For FMS/Autopilot, both do have their own problem, but I feel CS's is more manageable, as the problem is mainly in VNAV descend, which... not very much dev made that part correct anyway... While FF757/767 can't even get the take off profile correct (untill x.6.9 they finally fixed non-VNAV part)

For Aerodynamic and performance, they are both bad out of box, but for me, I have the knowledge and did made some tweaks to P3D's data to make it works in normal flight envelope, But I don't have the know-how to tweak X-P's aircraft (XP handily came with the tools, but I just got lost in all it's parameters)

But I still won't recommended anyone pay CaptainScam a penny.

As for 737CL, just NO.

I have their 767 and I fly 767/757 for work. I have to say no it doesn’t really fly like the real thing.

I'm too late for editing.

I meant not worth it at full price.

Got the 767 for $10 on sale. it’s a beautiful looking model. I love looking at screenshots of it.

That’s about it because it’s completely unusable. Worst frames I’ve ever seen in the simulator. Way worse that the FSLabs or anything from PMDG.

And on top of that, it’s not even as detailed as those aircraft are. I payed $10 for it, and I’m glad I didn’t pay a dollar more.

I have the 75 and 76 and you already have plenty of feedback on them. Main issue as mentioned is the FPS isn't great but if you dial down a few settings here or there or you have a decent GPU/CPU combo then they are definitely flyable. I bought them both on sale and at that price its a no brainer as there's no other pay-ware available for 64bit P3D. You can also use the panel/VC (which are nicely modelled) by merging it w the POSKY or TDS 767 and 757 models and there are hundreds of liveries out there for those, that's what I've been doing.

Re the 737, I'm a Classic fan and its the aircraft I've always flown the most in sim so was always gonna buy it, once again captive audience as nothing else at pay-ware level avail for 64bit. I previously had the FeelThere/Wilco Classics in FSX and P3Dv3. Same thing goes for this, buy it on sale and you wont be disappointed, if your a big fan like me just buy it anyway. Modelling is great (earlier poster commented on the wing profile, not sure if you'll notice from the cockpit), performance is good on my rig, systems deep enough to fly w a decent level or realism from cold-n-dark.

Can pull the same trick w the panel by merging with the HJG 737-classic external models if no livery avail for CS classic as once again HJG have dozens of nice historic and contemporary liveries avail. I haven't been able to successfully merge it with the 50-North external model as that doesn't seem to play nicely w 64bit P3D.

Feel free to DM for any other info

IXEG 737-300 for XP11 and soon for XP12.

You probably get better result even after all the trouble of entering a new platform, than you get from try to deal with Captain Scam... I mean just from the simulation and system wise, not even with their price\support etc......

Yeah the IXEG looks amazing, but OP is talking about P3D AFAIK so that's what I was meaning, sorry I didn't clarify.

I have the 767, bought it for just $10. I had to disable the volumetric lighting (in the icon bar) to prevent an FPS loss. For $10, yeah, it's beautiful. For the $100 they usually charge, not worth at all.

A file needs renamed on the 767 otherwise there are constant CTDs. It's something to do with windscreen rain effects.

In the 757 you need to change a value in a file or you get black rectangles on the wing tips where the lights are.

Thank you all for your input here, I have learned a lot about these aircraft now.

Interesting comparison.  I do also use X-Plane and I do own both the FF757 and FF767.  I have not flown them a lot yet and I'm still learning how to fly them, I picked them up during a recent sale.  You really think the FF757 and 767 have bad flight modelling?  My understanding is that they were supposed to be the most realistic Boeing's out there.  I am flying them in X-Plane 11 though as I do not yet own X-Plane 12 so maybe there is a difference between how they fly in 11 vs. 12 maybe? I know they were only recently updated to work in XP12, maybe they still need to work out the flight model?

Also regarding the IXEG 737-300 for XP11 that others have mentioned, I always wanted that plane, I've heard it's amazing, something tells me I should have bought it a long time ago but I may still buy it.  I'm also happy to hear they're coming out with an X-Plane 12 version.  Eventually I'll make the switch to 12.

If you are a real life pilot of these aircraft then you would know more than us desk jockeys, I believe you.  My question is though how far from the real thing are they?  I would be happy if they are at least fairly close to the real thing.

You can't fly them as the N1 and pitch as real word "unreliable airspeed" chart, and also the cursing N1/EPR/FF is way off from realworld table, so it's not realistic on this front.

It's been like this for XP11, but XP12 make it even worse, now FF767's fuel economy is on pair with 787....

Of course CS757/767 is as bad if not worse,  but at least I know how to adjust it to make at least close in normal flight condition.

XP's aerodynamic can be tuned as well, for example someone made 3rd party mod to FJS 737 and 727 to make them can be flown as chart down to +-0.01EPR on cruise.

While I own both CS and FF, and still fly CS more, if you already own FF's 757/767, then I believe there would be no gain to switch.

I mean, if you only use P3D, don't want switch to another platform, then get $10 sale on CS 75/67 then it's... OK?

At least FF are still working on their products.
