June 26, 20232 yr I cant wait, day one purchase. I have the Asobo enhanced version and the enhancement files off Flightsim.to which adds a lot, but it still is not the same quality as a Jo Erlund EDDF. EBBR, EDDK, and ENGM are all masterpieces. I was convinced Sim Wings was working on EDDF, but I guess not. As long as it was as good or better than EDDM I was on board. Edited June 26, 20232 yr by aniiran

Those have sold very well despite the handcrafted defaults, so I'd say your "99% don't need it" is a bit exaggerated. EDIT: For example EGLL is the 6th most sold scenery on Simmarket for this week... and it's been out like for over a year or something? Big hubs always sell well, especially with the 777 and the A330 coming around the same time (hopefully) as EDDF. The "99%" was of course rhetorical as I have no idea out of how many 10's to 100's of thousands of users and owners of Premium Deluxe actually are familiar personally with EDDF enough to want something closer to reality. That's just me though I don't care to collect addons and as soon as MSFS released the chatter about addons commenced immediately which IMM was legacy behavior from FSX/P3D days where default airports were wretched. I was was impressed with just how good so many default airports truly are. Plus, I actually prefer new and clean over old and dirty, and that is a side benefit of poetic license. I bought KDEN only because of severe terrain defects and I'll take a gander that is the case for many others who owned Premium Deluxe. I'm glad there is enough of a market to sustain developers trying to make a living at it. Can you provide a link to weekly sales numbers on Simmarket? Thanks This link should have further down "Most popular - Weekly" and shows the 10 most sold airports this week for MSFS, with IniBuilds EGLL at no. 6. June 26, 20232 yr How meaningful is 6th place, with no numbers? Not very... My point has to do w/ those who did buy Premium Deluxe--I predict it will not be a lot who will buy EDFF since EDFF is decent already. If you're real familiar with EDFF and love buying better over decent, there will be some, but I doubt all that many. When you take a look at Marketplace sales of KDEN (FB's version) it's quite high at 511 today, which again I believe has mostly to do with the fact Asobo's PD version is pretty much unusable. Dubai is another example: TWO 3rd party vendors, combined sales numbers of 44 in total. No terrain defects... I don't think that is the case at all. As an aside, I imagine Jorg's numbers he threw out for 12m MSFS users include GamePass subscribers who use the product. A better comp example is how well did KJFK do? I don't know, but the World Update one or wherever it came from that we all got wasn't horrid, actually. I bought it since the East Coast is one of my most common areas to fly. In this case, Jo Erlund has a stellar reputation and those familiar with his work are likely to buy it.

Me and many friends all own premium deluxe and we all agree that asobos premium airports are garbage. We will all buy the new EDDF on day one and so will hundred thousand others. Lukas Dalton
June 26, 20232 yr Good for you and your friends who make up an immeasurably small percentage of all MSFS users. Hundreds of thousands no way. We all use the sim in very different ways with very different priorities. Given that Jorg said there are ~12 million users of MSFS, yeah, I could see them selling 100k of a large airport by a well-known dev. That's a small percentage of even the 3mill core simmers number he mentioned.

It was during the keynote on Friday at FSEXPO. He didn't say how he broke out the 3 groups (core, casual, and gamers), but I imagine the "core simmers" are folks their data says take the sim seriously regardless of aircraft they fly. Since it's an always-connected game, they can pull a lot of data on how folks use the sim. Edit: also, 'Franfurt Friday" is a huge VATSIM event each week. Those are the folks (at least on MSFS) that are almost a given for sales. Edited June 27, 20232 yr by BrammyH
June 27, 20232 yr some of the hand crafted airports have terrible parking spots. KMCO for example there's some parking spots where you're not even facing the right direction. I'd rather have a payware (or good quality freeware) than any of the handcrafted airports made by Asobo that came with the sim. Exceptions being a lot of the World Update airports, as those are not made by Asobo. Edited June 27, 20232 yr by Tuskin38

June 27, 20232 yr Well fortunately, for me, I'm not so focused on detail found in some of the payware and freeware airports. Because I am flying worldwide for different airlines and their routes chances are very high I won't see an airport I buy or install as freeware. I find all of the ones mentioned above save KDEN pretty much good enough for how I use the sim. And TBH I've become so used to default if KDEN's elevation defects were fixed no way I would have bought FB KDEN. I find if I can go gate to gate, using GSX Pro, 99.9% of the time it's all so very good enough. My focus is on piloting to keep my pilot rating up in APL. When I bought my new BMW 2016 R1200RT I visited many forums and was struck by a loud group of riders whose first question after purchase was "what 'farkles' they needed to hurry up and buy and install. It reminds me of here when someone announces a new airport is going to be released. Some folks get off on dressing up their doll, be it a motorcycle, or a flight sim. That's much less me. I like to ride and fly. And I'm a core simmer if hours flown per week count as I fly tons on a regular basis and have for decades. There are many ways to enjoy the sim and shopping for the next addon is super low on my priority list, and I know for others it's high I can see it in the excitement for new releases. I'm stoked about MSFS 2024.
