Gents, when discussing performance it would be instructive to know your hardware specs. 👍

And also a fully tweaked and optimized v5 =/= an out of the box v6 with sliders fully maxed out.

Apples to oranges.

My observation is not based on running sliders in V6 maxed out. With mid to high settings in the default scenario, my experience so far is that perf is worse in V6.

My observations re settings:

Seems that all water reflections are on by default. There are no settings to change them in the options. So everything is reflecting in the water, clouds, trees, terrain and buildings. I would have all that turned off in v5 which gives much better performance.

Same with shadows, no options to select what is casting and receiving shadows. All  on by default, I would have most of those also turned off, again a good chunk of performance there.

I was not able to see any settings for those in the cfg either, they seem to be gone. I think this is where the performance difference is coming from.

Pretty sure if I could turn the above off then I would be getting performance much similar to V5.

Cheers 🍻

Could you maybe try looking at your V5 cfg file and copying any relevant entries over to the V6 cfg and see if that turns them off? Just a thought.

Yes, I did think of that, but no time to tinker tonight. I will investigate this tomorrow 😎

Should we HAVE to do that with a new version?  Just a question.

Apparently the slider will affect the amount of reflections, and similarly for the shadows - but it isn't quite as configurable now.

Did anyone ever figure this out? This is my biggest pet peeve with v6 right now.

Why would LM take away a customization feature like that.

How long do you think that’s going to remain visible? The best place is in your signature.

Ok, so the planar reflections slider controls the reflections in the water and the shadows slider now controls all the shadows. I turned planar reflections off and I have shadow slider on medium. Seems to work quite well for me.
