Under the radar too has been cloud dynamic lighting which looks incredible. I’m sure all the screenshots I’ve seen have been with the sliders all the way to the right, but word not allowed if those aren’t incredible looking.

Latest (#2) update improved the clouds even more.

Here’s my take, noting I have not yet bought v6;for reasons that have nothing to do with cost. So with that said I have been thinking about all the complaints here and elsewhere about lack of developers support for v.6.

now, one of the best additions to P3D, any edition,  is out in beta for v.6. Everyone who has installed it is raving about performance. complaints have been primarily about pricing. I wonder how many people it takes and how many hours are spent  to write  the software update? And how many customers have to purchase the product to make a worthwhile return on investment and time for the developers.

if I were a commercial developer I would give a lot of thought to these factors. It is a business and as such deserves reward for a good product and the satisfaction it brings.

What’s the alternative? No weather or you set it up manually?

I have no plans to buy v6 as things stand. Others may be interested in that offer. Historical weather would be important. I don’t see it mentioned.

we are discussing HiFi's active sky weather addon for P3Dv6. you asked:

"What’s the alternative? No weather or you set it up manually? "

I mention an alternative: "FSrealWX now also works with Prepar3D v6"

you: "I have no plans to buy v6 as things stand." 🤣

you: "Historical weather would be important. I don’t see it mentioned."

here you go:

"Historical weather is implemented in the latest release of FSrealWX 3.02.1966 and supports recreating the weather for the last 3 months."

https://www.fsrealwx.de/index.php/forum/bug-report/777-historical-weather-is-incomplete?start=0

I haven't decided if/which weather tool I will purchase, but since HiFi doesn't offer a trial version (why not?) I am currently exploring the 1-month-free FSrealWX trial for P3Dv6 which works for FSX, P3Dv6, xplane all in one single product.

I just looked at the website and the main features of the program. Didn’t see historical weather mentioned.

that's why I posted that screenshot.

since the default scenery is so ugly, I recommend to fly with reduced visibility weather, that's where P3Dv6 shines. after today's new update #2 even more, so much so that I might even keep P3Dv6. here with  some real weather from today in 4K, clouds max settings, Carenado Embraer Phenom:

in clouds performance is horrible: down from 175 to 17 ! fps @ 4K in the middle of nowhere over the Atlantic, on an AMD 7800x3D + RTX 4090 🤣. they obviously don't know how to program graphics efficiently. I get 130 fps in a similar scenario in my other simulator that I purchased back in 2020.

Very good. How far back does it store weather data?

That, or also a year, isn't much. With AS, the database seems to go back to August of 2014.

bummer, not even 10 years? I need to re-fly my 10-year anniversary flight from July 2013. if AS can't remember that day's weather, I won't purchase it. am devastated. totally disappointing.

For a marginal fee HiFi can reproduce birthday weather scenarios.

They used to offer marriage dates too, but they dropped it because since MFS 2020 was released, and FS 2024 subsequently announced, no one get's married anymore...
