August 8, 20232 yr We’ll if this thread is a vote, then I am on V6 and loving it. I have all my addons from V5 in there except for FSL buses as they are locked. Only reason I will go back to V5 is for the upcoming Concorde from FSL. August 8, 20232 yr Yeah, good one alright, I'd also like to know some figures. I have both 5.4 and 6.0 installed and bought Active Sky and ChasePlane for 6.0. I have installed/shared nearly all my addons over/between both versions. There is little doubt that the lighting, in general, with V6 has improved but there is still work to be done. Now, what I find somewhat ironic is that while many P3D users appear to castigate some devolopers for not supporting the P3D and jumping ship to the other sim ie. chasing the money, yet they themselves have not invested in the new V6.0 ! So how can they, in all honesty, lament any developer leaving a platform if they personally do not support that platforms's growth ??

You can asume from most of the bad comments about V6 that they exspect from P3D to be just a twin of FS2020, while argue MSFS is not a real simulator like P3D but just a Game. They don´t even notice that P3D is heading in the right direction with the new athmospheric model which has become more realistic especially for the day/night transition. Even if there still little issues left. Many really like how individual customizable P3D is with all the add-ons like Rex, AS, Shadermods, scenery, aircrafts etc. while critzise MSFS for it´s propretary system. They are blended by it´s only real advantage of the photogrammetry, which makes them blind to see that there is not much left in matter of "Flightsimulation" once you look behind the shiny curtain. It raised my mind, what X-Plane said about their new version 12, to be not as MSFS. They said, they concentrate on develope a Flightsimulator for Studylevel complex aircrafts, which can simulate and interact with all those complex influences from weather, air , temp on all systems of an ac, rather then create a nice picture of the world. It´s really a pitty, why they can´t put them together. Imagine if Asobo, LM and Laminar would create a Simulator together with let them working on their single parts on which they are great and innovative. Users are doing the exact same thing developers are: A lot seem to be unsure of the platform, and are holding back on investments or switching altogether. Of course this insecurity in great parts stems from what the “the other side“ is doing, meaning users are watching developers moves, and vice versa. So, I wouldn't put the blame on the users solely. I fully agree, it does appear tantemount to a 'catch 22' situation. However some developers were actually lambasted here on Avsim for 'jumping ship' and I'm asking how many of those posters and those who concurred with that castigation actually coughed up and supported the home use of P3D V6 ? I know some will say something along the lines of, "sure what difference would one purchase make? ", but like a ballot, they all count. I fear that if the amount of posts on this forum, pertinant to V6 is anything to go by, then the future of our beloved P3D in relation to further addons, does not appear too bright.
