Lorby's AO is another BIG reason to stay with 5.4.  Absolutely love that program for Scenery organization!

yeah, and it works with V6 also very well!

That's good news!  How about ORBX?

No need to mess with registry settings. Assuming you have all your ORBX addons outside of V5 in its own library/folder ( as you should) then just use Lorby's addon organiser for V6 to add them to V6.

Download the correct Lorby addon organiser for V6. Run it and then select P3D V6 and go to 'Discovery'. Add the path for your ORBX scenery and if you wish also the path for your 'Prepar3D v5 Add-ons' . But bear in mind not all V5 addons are compatible or will load using the 'XML' method.

Save and exit Lorby and start your V6, it should now ask you do you wish to enable......blah....blah....blah.

We are definitely not forgetting any P3D customers, and that is official! 🙂

In fact, we are now considering and planning how to upgrade, refresh, rebuild, test, or relaunch (where necessary), and in no particular order, our P3D products. I do appreciate you all trying to make things work and the support that the community is providing in the meantime.

I have also spoken to LM to organise and (possibly align) priorities. Again I do appreciate your feedback and this community's support as we work through the planning.

As sparkrite mentioned, OrbX works also flawless in V6. If you have the lates LorbyAO, you have two options. First make a backup of the orginal ADD-ON.CFG and SCENERY.CFG of V6 just in case something goes wrong. Then you can use LorbyAO to make a backup of the existing add-on.cfg and scenery.cfg of your V5.4. Then you can change into the V6 within the AO and just restore those into your V6. Second option is, to add everything manually one by one, or you just copy and paste the content of both configs from the V5 into V6 and finetune the sorting afterward with Lorbys.

I remember reading in the Orbx forums that things like the global base pack, Global Vector, and Global openLC should be installed into P3D. Then stuff like Orbx airports or Global Trees and Buildings should be installed outside of P3D in its own library folder.

Sounds like "fun"!

Installing the very first version of ANY software in the first six months is always regrettable. Don't know whether this sentence comes from Machiavelli ("The Prince") or Dante Alighieri ("Purgatorio"). :D

The Global base and OpenLC weren't library-compatible when OC first started to allow that option, but they are now.  I have them installed in libraries now without issue (in P3Dv4 and v5).  I think Trees and Buildings still need to be installed in the P3D main folder--you'll know for sure when you try to install, as OC will not offer an option to install them in a library.

All of my experiences with installing scenery using the XML method have been less than satisfactory. It is why I have all of my scenery installed in P3Dv4 using the old scenery.cfg method, and that includes the ORBx stuff.

Nope, all can be installed ouside of P3D and is by far the more desirable method.

It nearly takes longer to type how to do it, than it takes to actually do.

I wholly agree...exact sentiments. I also noticed that the seasonal changes and colors change in P3DV5 but in P3DV6 the seasonal colors do not change and there is a lot more brown textures. I will stay with P3DV5, it just looks better and performs superb.

I have V6 plus the ASN for it installed. Still have my 5.4 installed too.

I am impressed with V6 and look forward to watching sceneries and aircraft become available for it. I have the majestic Dash 8-400 for V6  and the onboard wx radar seems to work fine.

As to moving V5 sceneries/aircraft into V6 i don't have the knowledge to do that though reading in the forums it sounds easy enough.

As to sceneries for V6 as of right now all of SimAddOns Canadian sceneries, coast to coast, are installable directly into V6 and they are very good.

Put me in the "anti-v6" column. I just asked for a refund. Sigh..........
