Thanks Mr. A... Please keep us posted.Barry

Hi Barry,I haven't seen the promised increase with the DX10 preview but I didn't loose anything either. As Geof said, the water looks better. I can crank autogen up to max and it's relatively smooth. No real stuttering except very briefly at an undefined interval. With all of that said, I wouldn't upgrade anything until you're absolutely certain the gains are worth the outlay of cash. DX10 has been touted as the showcase for Vista and FSX. I've yet to see much that justifies the expense.Your present machine looks fully capable of running in DX9c and I'd be inclined to stay there for the time being and avoid a good deal of disappointment.Regards,Jim Karn

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the feedback.Maybe AVSIM can create a DX10 topic so we can follow and monitor the DX10 evolvolution. Is there any "Non-Hype" Blogs that I can follow? Thanks again!Barry

Hi Barry,I really enjoy DX10 because I already have the PC for that but wouldn't never recommand to invest today on a better graphic card only for the DX10 preview.Water is nicer indeed, FPS are (for me) much higher (maybe 30 or 40% but who needs more then an average 20-25?). The dark side is that drivers aren't fully stable yet (would they ever be??), I get much more stutters and I really don't like the "new" bloom effect that is much real with DX9.Overall impression: you've got the component for it, nice, you don't, stay with DX9 .Regards,

Hi !/quoteyes there is still few problems with the DX10 preview and we just can hope that upcoming video drivers will fix most of them.quote/Anyway, it's absolutely utopic to hope any enhancement about the hideous flickering on airports by a new driver from nVidia. Why ?1) The problem occurs on almost all airports but not all (Seatac is an example where there is no flickering, but Seattle is MS's home :-))2) The problem occurs with 8800 GTX but also with ATI 2900, so both constructors have the same error in their interpretation of DX10 code ? It seems highly irrealistic !IMHO, it's a perfect example of bad coding, but as David Roch says, it's a "preview" of what we can expect for a future FS11.For the time being, just stay with DX9.0c.Papy_PegaseAsus P5BDeluxe- Core2Duo 67008800GTX - 2 GB DDR2 PC6400FSX + ActiveSkyX + XGraphics + Radar Contact.

Hi PapySince I got it all sorted out as in my other posts, my frame rates have improved 20-30% and all the flickering has gone under DX10.However I have not added in the X-Graphics yet or Radar contact (I fly PMDG and ATR).regardsNeville

Hi,what about some "scientific" reporting regarding the runways flickering ?I suspect that XGraphic runway texture are the culprit here.anyone without texture mods add-on (like XGraphic) is experiencing the runway flickering ?adel

Yes Sir, the runway textures flicker/flash without XGraphics. And, I'm using the 169.12 drivers. The issue remains, at least for me.I've got an E6700 overclocked to 3.0gHz, an 8800GTS 640MB with 2GB DDR2-800 on Vista Ultimate x64.Regards,Jim Karn

Hey David,Except for the Video Card, I would say my rig should handle it.. I hope that the number one task remaining for DX-10 is OPTIMIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Barry

Hi David,I see your thread now only and I'm not able to see your removed FSX display options attachments. Can you tell me please where to find or to see them. Can you resume me your last tips? Many thanks,Giorgio from Italy

Hi there, the attached screens from the first post are not available, someone can post it again?thanks
