November 5, 20232 yr Author American humour is different to British humour. I failed to chuckle, snort or smile. ☹️ We spell humour differently too and call sodder solder and color colour and it's aluminium not aluminum. And its box section not square tubing. Don't know why you had to reinvent things. 🤔 Somebody told me once that Americans say sidewalk because they have to be told it's on the side and you walk on it. Whereas British just say pavement. 🤣 Edited November 5, 20232 yr by martin-w

November 5, 20232 yr Author The definition of pave is to cover with stones, bricks or slabs. Like the Romans did all those years ago. Although I admit, in my neck of the woods, some roads in town are paved with cobbles that have been their for a very long time, pleases the tourists. 😀

How weird. Most of the UK roads and British Isles are tarmac. Property drives usually are too. And Europe. Edited November 5, 20232 yr by martin-w

Of course you’re right about the original meaning of tarmac, but it’s use also corresponds to definition #2: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/tarmac

But yes, I'm aware of the history and why we ended up with the "b" variant instead of the "c". With that decision now consigned to history, I do think the F35b and our carriers are effective enough for what we need and absolutely not a turkey. And besides, there's no "cooler" aircraft in my opinion. 🙂 Edited November 5, 20232 yr by martin-w
