I’m also sceptical about whatever’s shown in trailers, especially after the clear and quite severe downgrading of cloud quality in live weather, and reduction of LODs in the early SUs after 2020 launch.

Right so as mentioned above, it is pretty obvious they are using manual weather to do trailers (makes sense, so that they can get the desired lighting/weather for what they want to show, etc rather than go with whatever live weather gives them at time of recording).

Unless the trailers they're showing is specifically on/related to the topic of live weather, doesn't really make any sense to draw conclusions about how live weather would look based on trailers no.

My point isn’t about live weather cloud quality per se, it’s just one area that was very different at launch, and very close if not the same in quality as what we saw in the trailers (I’m not sure if the all the stuff in trailers is preset, but it’s not really the point anyway).

but pretending they didn’t sacrifice other areas (or at least not wanting to acknowledge they did), is pretty shortsighted and sets the devs up to assume they can keep doing it.

No one in here said that so I don't see why this statement was necessary. The original comment about trailers was exaggerated so some of us brought a bit of balance.

I’m not pointing to specific comments in this thread, more a common habit of avid ‘sim-warriors’.

Anyway, it’s difficult to judge, given that so much has had to be deleted in this thread.

Same clouds as 2020 shown on latest shot of MSFS 2024 on the dev stream yesterday…

Going by a screenshot taken during a mostly clear day with distant puffs of clouds (and not knowing if that was live or manual weather) doesn't make for any solid indications for what clouds will look like in v2024, either live weather or manual (and also because we don't know what build of v2024 they used and if it has any potential changes for clouds yet). I'll reserve judgement until they show proper pics/videos of any weather changes in v2024.
