MSFS 2024 v.s. MSFS 2020 Side by Side Comparison Video

Featured Replies

Here's a great side by side comparisons of the two sims. The uploader took the time to go to the same locations in 2020 to match the up with the ones seen in the 2024 trailer.

They weren't able to do the whole trailer but the effort is definitely appreciated. You can really see a massive graphical uplift in some of the shots with 2024's machine learning tech doing its thing.

***Now please note that this is a graphical comparison so it is pointless getting into the "what about physics???" talk. MS and Asobo have had plenty to say about that and remember that improvements in one area does not automatically make the other suffer. Let's stay on topic 🙂

It's an arcade game more and more... 🤮

Care to elaborate? Looks like a good implementation of real-world flying scenarios, especially for the helo missions.

Nice video! However I don't really like the tagline "pursue your dream of having a game that always crashes"... While I have my own set of issues, overall I enjoy MSFS 2020 a lot, and it seems it's only a small fraction of the userbase that is really affected CTDs.

He's just looking to derail. Don't give him attention

Someone else can put out all the fires, ferry some sick people and spray a few crops if they want to. I'll just continue to fly from A to B, the same as I do now.

Overall, the trees in MSFS 2020 are the best trees for a flight simulator. But from MSFS 2024 footage I have seen, the trees look to be even better than MSFS 2020.

From a distance. XP12's trees are much better up close. Totally agree that the difference between 2020 and 2024 trees is night and day.

Why not to ferry some Asobo staff? 🤔

I knew it wouldn't take you long to make one of your ridiculous comments.

That first comparison shot of the city skyline (and tornado) didn't look so hot!
Preferred the current version's colours and the greater number of buildings compared to the MSFS2024 screengrab.

Then there's the waterbomber whose drop missed the flames and killed the person filming (which is why there's a scene cut 😉).

I'm being highly picky. However, if we're going to start marketing on Microsoft's behalf with only a teaser trailer behind us, I'm going to call out the problems (no matter how good the rotor downwash on vegetation looks or how wonderful it is to have a third person view).

Well it takes more skill to do some of those things than just staring at instruments for 90% of the flight so it's good that the option is there for those that want the challenge.

Nothing in the trailer is obviously final. A lot can change between then and release.

For example, according to the last dev Q&A the new atmospheric engine was not implemented when they made this trailer.

They're 3D models in 2024
