November 27, 20232 yr Well, I finally did it. I'm someone who squeezes every last day out of a PC's lifecycle, but mine was dying on it's legs. The start switch had even broken and I had to "hot wire" it each day to start it 😄 So I've bought a new PC. No high end gaming machine but I'm coming from an ancient i7 4790 (non-K!) 3.4Ghz with a GTX 1080. My new PC is a AMD Ryzen 9 with a RTX 3080Ti. For me, it's a staggering improvement. Imagine only ever having seen MSFS on "Medium" texture resolution, then going Ultra. My jaw dropped. As well as Ray Tracing, Ambient occlusion and all the other goodies that I had never used, now being on. It's like a whole new sim. The MSFS reinstallation process was slightly torturous. I was initially getting a CTD every time I clicked "Fly". Turned out to be my hardware assignments (that had took 2 hours to configure - I have things very customized!). I had to delete them all, after which there were no CTDs, then do them all again. This time, all was ok. I was on SU14 beta on my old PC. I'm using the same MS account but I'm now back on SU13 stable. Not sure what that's about but I've decided not to push my luck, so I'm staying off the beta until it goes live. Ok, that's the 'joy post' part done 🙂 So I'm experimenting with DLSS in the sim. The frame rates are unbelievable and, for the most part, the graphics stunning. But the G1000, TDS GTN and even the 430/530 screens are really blurry. This is with DLSS on and set to "Quality". I tried all the settings, including DLSS on, and DLAA in the sub selection. It's best with "quality" but still not great. This is not a showstopper as even on TAA I'm getting very high frames throughout. But I was just wondering if those of you who're more experienced in this area would know any fixes, to be able to run DLSS and get improved rendering of glass avionics? I did search YT and read many posts on the official forum but didn't really get anywhere. Thanks in advance. November 27, 20232 yr I don't think there is a fix, blurry gauges are the price you have to pay for better fps, use TAA instead and enjoy the sim at its best now that you have a computer that can handle it 👍 System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
November 27, 20232 yr As far as I know, no. DLSS makes glass gauges and avionics blurry. It's really annoying, and there's no fix for it. I ended up disabling DLSS altogether, as it drove me crazy. I don't know when/if they'll fix it (or even who's suppose to fix it?) Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
November 27, 20232 yr You really should investigate DLSS swapper. There are later DLSS versions than those shipped with the game that might improve your performance. It's very easy to use and you can reset to the original if you don't see the benefit. Just Google DLSS swapper for a download link. There's also a thread on Avsim "DLSS Swapper is a tool that allows you to conveniently download, manage, and swap DLSS dlls allowing you to upgrade or downgrade DLSS version in a game without the game needing an update." The latest dll version is 3.5 Don't confuse this with DLSS 3. The DLSS versions are windows dll's that all graphics cards use. DLSS 3 is the latest graphics AI specifically for 40 series Nvidia cards. Edited November 27, 20232 yr by mobeans10 Clarity ?
November 27, 20232 yr Author @Ixoye , @anden145 Thanks gents. At least I know that I'm not missing out on anything, regarding DLSS 👍 @mobeans10 Thanks - I saw a post recently about this DLSS swapping, but it was before I just got a RTX card. I'll check it out, cheers. November 27, 20232 yr Author [EDIT: Resolved] I just tried to use DLSS Swapper. I tried both the zip and exe installs. As soon as I select MSFS and attempt to swap to a newer DLSS, I get an error message:- "Error - DLSS Record needs to be installed first. See the download page". I have scrutinized every inch of the Github page and cannot find dependency or file called "DLSS Record" ! Can anyone help?https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper/releases/tag/v1.0.2.0 Cheers. November 27, 20232 yr Author Scratch that. Sorted it out. There's an additional page in the Swapper tool, where you have to download the DLSS version you want to try, before then going to the main page to install it into MSFS. November 27, 20232 yr Any DLSS setting including DLAA does that, along with an annoying ripple effect on water. In my opinion DLSS is badly implemented in MSFS, in almost all the other games DLSS DLAA and DLSS Quality improve the perceived graphics quality instead. The good news is that with the 3080 Ti you don't need DLSS unless you push it to 4K and aim to 60 fps. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

I did search YT and read many posts on the official forum but didn't really get anywhere. Thanks in advance. I use DLSS Quality at 4k. I use sharpening set to on in the user config file (it should be on by default if you don't want to mess with it ), then the in sim slider bar for sharpening set to 125. I know it says AMD sharpening but it does work for Nvidia also. At these settings I find the slight fuzzyness tolerable for the extra performance I get, and including lack of heat and fan noise! I use DLSS 3.5 also after using the updater and I have not had any problems. Smoothness is stellar at 4k ultra settings and 60 Hz, but I do have a 4080 and a 13900k. I use the Tobii head tracker so although the flat panels are still a bit fuzzy, I can just lean in a bit and they come up larger in front of my face - no big deal. Apparently any further improvements to the sharpness is down to Asobo to sort out, not Nvidia. They do know about it and may have to use a masking technique on the panels apparently.
