Controller Settings Part 2

Featured Replies

Why do I feel like I am in the twilight zone whenever I am trying to sort out the control settings in Microsoft Flight Simulator? I worked out how to get into DRONE mode, but then I noticed that the NUM5 (reset to position directly behind the aircraft) command does not work. In addition, the "W" key that translates the drone forwards just stopped working for no reason whatsoever?? Exiting the simulator and then loading it again solved the problem, but stuff like that really should not be happening.

Oh, and it would be great to know which parallel universe the screenshots are stored in. My quantum computer is struggling to locate it.

This depends on with what application screenshots are taken. Click on Home in Windows Explorer. Windows Game Bar stores them in Videos in a folder Captures. The Pictures folder has a Screenshots folder.

I am taking screenshots in Microsoft Flight Simulator using the F12 key. I assume that an in built screenshot application has a specific storage folder?

I am far from expert in DRONE mode, but I've found that when you are in it, pressing the wrong key can louse the whole drone session up. One key in particular is the T key if I remember right. it can lock out other keys.

More questions.....

  • Can I change the external view to normal mode (as opposed to panoramic)?
  • Can I set a top down viewpoint?
  • How do I get rid of the annoying cartoon dials and gauges on screen in external view mode?

If you can find your way to getting an xbox controller (even with a PC), drone mode becomes much easier to manage and virtually fly around.  You can also set it to control your "inside" camera to move yourself around the cockpit/interior of the plane.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I have learned how to move around in Drone Camera mode, so that part is OK

On a side note, what is the best AA option for quality? I have it set to TAA at the moment.

According to a YouTube video that I have seen, I should be able to change weather/time of day etc. whilst in the simulator. However, when I open the weather settings page (from that little bar near the top of the screen), the entire page is greyed out. I cannot access it at all. Is there something that I need to do to make this editable?

Christopher you might like to watch this video regarding settings. It must have taken ages for this guy to put it together.

Not sure I'm understanding  what you mean but I guess you mean what is often referred to as the "handlebar" at the top of the screen.

That being the case, when you click the cloud icon the weather settings will open. If you have selected Live Weather, the settings will be grayed out.

Turn off live weather and you can then set up user preferences.

Hope this helps.

And speaking of the handlebar, I found it annoying  so I installed a "hide handlebar" mod so it only shows up when the mouse pointer is moved to the top of the screen. Us old time ex-P3Ders can be a fussy lot!

As far as I am aware, the "handlebar" disappears after a few seconds on my screen. Thanks for the information regarding Live Weather.

It looks like I am not able to change from Real Time weather if I load a save file that was set up with Real Time weather. I will need to set up my aircraft again with Real Time weather disabled from the start. How strange

Check your multiplayer options, You probably have it set to Live Players, then you can't change the settings.
