Kardashev and Carl Sagan thought so, too: "Zoltan Galántai notes that neither Kardashev nor Sagan thought to extend the scale and define a Type IV (which would use the energy of an entire Universe). They simply did not envision a civilization capable of manipulating its environment on the largest possible scale (about 14 billion parsecs)." Dugald Walker

January 31, 20242 yr Ah yes, but the accelerating expansion of the universe would stop and all the energy would be dumped into the field, particles created, jostle together, and a new hot big bang would occur. The end would be akin to the beginning, just a scalar field, just the inflaton field.😲 Nobel Prize now please.

You don't wanna end up like Gabor Fekete, who claimed he should receive the Nobel Prize on many occasions 😉 https://perso.crans.org/lasseri/crackpot 🙃 There are several guys of this calibre around. They send emails to anyone who is on a physics web page 😑
January 31, 20242 yr There's only one thing for it then. We must create our OWN Avsim science prize. What do you think? Edited January 31, 20242 yr by martin-w

Amen to that ... 🙂 ... even just a little more science would go a long way ... the perception of how things works by the "Internet community" is darn right scary, clear failure of our education system. I believe this site supports polls? Do a science poll, start simple so you can understand the audience here ... like maybe: Is the Earth? 1. Flat 2. Round (ish) Good warmup question so we know what we're dealing with. 🙂

January 31, 20242 yr The universe is a Yo-Yo expanding in all directions until its energy runs out, then it retracts to its origin once again creating the next 'Big Bang', and the cycle continues Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

According to Penrose, the universe doesn't know the difference between the beginning and the end, the end is the same as the beginning. CCC. No clocks.

The infinity would suggest our big bang may not be the only one, we could be one of many, and the possibility for an event when one or more universe collide during expansion and overlap I don't fully buy into Yo-Yo theory I just like the idea that it closes up on itself and the energy from that means it starts again Edited February 1, 20242 yr by Matthew Kane Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

As I mentioned above, I find the fact that, if inflation is correct, that the universe began with an inflation field (inflaton field) and in the distant future will ultimately become the same type of scalar field. And if it stops expanding, same scenario may be manifest as per the big bang. Edited February 2, 20242 yr by martin-w
February 7, 20242 yr Are we talking Dark Matter vs. Dark Energy ... Dark Matter pulls and Dark Energy pushes ... hence the desire to see how much Dark Matter exists and what if they're exactly equal ... is that even possible with the conservation of energy? Or maybe Dark Energy IS the conservation of energy?
