World Map Selected Runway Bug?

Featured Replies

Lately I can't get MSFS to load a plane onto the runway of my choice. I've tried selecting my runway on the World Map screen in a number of different ways, namely using the drop down below the name of the selected airport on the upper left side of the screen, using the runway list on the right side of the screen, and by clicking directly on the map. And I always ending up with a green dot on the departure end of the selected runway. But once the plane loads, it ends up on the MSFS default runway.  Happens with Developer Mode on or off. This is a relatively new problem for me, but I don't know what might have changed. I'm using the MS PC version of the sim and Win10.

Thanks,

Al

That usually happens if you change anything about aircraft selection after selecting the destination.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not making any aircraft changes after selecting the airport and runway.

What is the "MSFS default runway"?

When you select a departure airport, the sim picks (suggests ?) a runway it thinks you should use -- that is what I mean by the default runway.

Recently it happens to me at all times. I usually select aircraft first, then livery and then departure point. Since I use either PF3 or FSHud, I never bother with the default flight planner, and had no issue at all. I don't understand why and how this started to happen.

My workaround so far is to have GSX warp me to the correct location.

I think I have stumbled on a solution for this aggravating "can't load onto my runway of choice " problem.

Go to Assistance Options > User Experience > ATC Enforce Flight Plan and turn it ON. That's it.  🙂

It doesn't seem to make any difference if you are using the sim ATC or not, nor if you enter a complete flight plan on the World map screen. Apparently you choice of departure runway is considered part of your "flight plan", and so ATC will "enforce that".  If you select OFF for this option, ATC selects the runway for you.

When convenient for you to try it, I'd like to know if it works for you as it does for me.

Thx,

Confirmed!

(just now I tested)

KJFK default is 31L. The opposite end is 13R.

ATC Enforce Flight Plan OFF..I select 13R and msfs put me at 31L

ATC Enforce Flight Plan ON...I select 13R and msfs put me at 13R

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I had not experienced the bug because the update reset all my assistance options. When resetting them, it seemed to me that ATC Enforce Flight Plan ON seemed like it sounded better than OFF. (I did not actually know what it meant). So for me it's always been ON ever since they added the option.

And although I only fly IFR, I'm anti-sim ATC (I'm my own ATC) and so previously had all ATC settings disabled or off!  ☹️

Maybe with the Dune update, those options got reset and that's why I'm no longer having this issue. Thank you!

Mate, thanks such a lot ... currently testing scenery for a payware dev and suddenly noticed that I couldn't switch to opposite end of the runway ... thought the build had borked my system .... tested at other airports with same result ... sudden increase in heart rate 🤪 Thankfully, read this post and quickly checked my settings ... never use MSFS ATC, everything under 'User Experience' set to 'OFF' (as expected) but tried your solution and it worked ... great job!
