It's a really nice feature, i like it!

After uninstalling and reinstalling, it got better, but still something cut off.

Hope links are working:

In one screenshot, it's cut right and bottom. Then if I "double clik" to close and open various sections, it's cut only on the right.

P.S.

As always, thanks a lot for your great job!

Thanks for the screen shots. They are helpful. I'll take a look at what is causing this.

I'm asking for a bit of help to see what's going on with some users having both the Steam and MS Store versions of MSFS 2024 installed in their user profile folders. From two cases so far, the users have only purchased the MS Store version, yet they also had install files as though they had installed the Steam version. This seems to have occurred in the first week MSFS 2024 came out, when the servers were acting a little crazy, and it has been causing issues with my new app detecting which MSFS version a user has because it looks like they have both!

As such, I am requesting that some of you who installed MSFS 2024 in the first week, even if you have reinstalled it since, have a look in your user folders and tell me:

  1. Which version of MSFS 2024 did you actually purchase - Steam or MS Store?
  2. Do you have a folder named %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache with files and folders in it?
  3. Do you have a folder named %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with files and folders in it?

You should have the #2 folder only with the MS Store version and the #3 folder only with the Steam version. If you have both, then that's what I am specifically looking for. Thanks.

MS store, having both directory. But different size, one 18gb, the other 8gb.

P.S.

When I first installed 2024 at launch day, it created a directory named "limitless something", one day i decided to uninstall and reinstall it, and instead of "limitless" it created a directory named  "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024".

That’s strange. I also reinstalled but only have the “limitless” folder.

That is very strange. MS Store version only normally installs to the one I identified. So are you saying you don't have %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache at all?  Is this new directory called "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024" under local or roaming profile? Finally, did you reinstall to a custom location?

I'll try to send you pm with screenshots, easier than to write dir names and dates here.

Edit: I'm sorry, confused %LocalAppData% with %AppData%, the other directory i sent you in PM is for FS2020 I suppose. My fault.

Not if it has 2024 at the end of it like you originally said. You can just copy paste the folder names I gave into explorer window at the top and it will soon tell you whether those directories really exist. If you want, just message me a screenshot of these two directories.

Sent you message with screenshot before, but dont mind, my fault reading dir names. I have and old "username\AppData\Local\FlightSimulator2024Beta" but it's not related to this. I thought to be helpful, but made a mess instead, sorry.

No worries. Every bit of data on this helps.

Just to be 100% clear now, can you please confirm the you DON"T have the following Steam-specific folder: %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 ?

From feedback received so far, it seems the ghost MSFS 2024 version install issue only occurs for MS Store version user as I have not had a single report of a Steam MSFS 2024 version user having a ghost MS Store MSFS 2024 install. As such, I am going to change the app's version detection logic to log if if finds a ghost install and to default to MS Store, not Steam as in the past, as the real installed version.

To that end, a new test version is coming out shortly with that logic change and a change to the app's window restoration and resizing that hopefully resolves @ConairMSFS's window size issue that I was getting to some extent too.

As recently discussed, test 4 is now up for download here: https://github.com/ResetXPDR/MSFS_AutoFPS/releases/tag/v0.4.4.1-test. @ConairMSFS and @deepstar, let me know if you still experience any window sizing issues. Other than this, this is getting pretty close to a formal release state. Thanks for your input everyone!

Changes are:

  • Following the discovery of some ghost MSFS 2024 installations that occurred in the first week MSFS 2024 came out, the app has been modified to check for such ghost installations, to log them in they are found and, based on feedback on this issue to date, to default to choosing the MS Store version as the valid installation.
  • Revised UI behaviour to do a forced window redraw for when the app window is restored from a minimised state.
