Hey I have MSFS 2020 on Steam, and Im having the MSFS compatibility test failed - app disabled error when I try to use the app. Ive tried all of the recommendations, like adding the exception, running as admin, and toggling on a simple setting + restarting the game, and the issue still persists. My game is installed on my D drive.

As you can't attach files here, send me a PM with the copy/pasted contents of your latest log file, located in %appdata%\MSFS_AutoFPS\log,  that shows this and I will take a look at why this might be happening.

MSFS_AutoFPS 0.4.5.10 hotfix has just been formally released, available either through auto update in the app or from here. My thanks goes out to all who provided valuable feedback during the test phase.

This hotfix resolves a critical issue where settings‑reduction variables were not initialised correctly, causing reductions to be skipped and recovery to restore settings lower than intended. It also fixes an issue where cloud quality changes were not being effected when in VR mode when using the Increase Clouds feature.

If you are an MSFS 2024 user of this app and either use Non-Expert settings or Expert settings with Auto Settings Reduction enabled and/or Auto Increase Clouds in VR, it is strongly recommended that you update to this hotfix version as this affects all app versions since 0.4.4.10.

Not wanting MSFS 2020 users to miss out on the recent hotfix action 😄, I managed to inadverently break MSFS 2020 cloud quality management, even if the user is not using the decrease cloud quality option, in the 0.4.5.10 hotfix for MSFS 2024 users.

It has been fixed in the latest 0.4.5.11-test version, available here. Alternatively, MSFS 2020 users can roll back to 0.4.5.9, available here, and turn off Auto/Silent Updates until 0.4.5.11 is formally released. My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

As such, the Readme recommended setting has been updated as follows:

  • If not using an FPS cap, it is recommended to set the MSFS dynamic settings target frame rate to at least 10 FPS lower than the native frame rate equivalent of the AutoFPS target FPS for best results.

Sorry, native in this case means pre frame gen? So if I’m using 2x DLSS FG and have AutoFPS Target FG FPS set to 60, should I set the dynamic settings target to 20?

Great question , same from me.  Thanks

FYI to those seeking to manually download 0.4.5.11-test, it has now graduated to RC status so the previously provided link is no longer available and it is now available as 0.4.5.11-RC here.

Hey, hey, hey!  Am I correct in stating that this overall improvement project is just a tick or two away from a 2nd Anniversary? Both enhancement included in that time frame!  For a no-cost and unequaled improvement, so continuously improved and updated, this is in my 44 year flight simulation experience an historical moment!

Bless you! Just Bless you!

You are most welcome!

I have enjoyed tweaking and improving the app, which now has a user base of around 20,000, over the last year. I still use it daily myself!

Well, it is completely optional, so if you don't want it then don't choose it.

I actually really made it for myself, as I am updating the app regularly during development and support, but I thought others who are trusting and just auto update all the time anyway might want a more streamlined process.

The best part about starting MSFS these days is seeing your constant updates and tweaks... no way turning that off :)

I love the auto update but would still like to get the notepad popup with the release notes.
