I have had another user tell me that it works as advertised, so even better. As this is a non-critical update, I'll probably leave this version in test state for a while in anticipation of the app needing an update if SU5 beta rolls out anytime soon. Now I have finally switched to 2024 and was able to upgrade my hardware (9800x3d, RTX 5080, 38 144hz monitor with 3840 x 1600) and am now slowly working my way through the settings. So far, I've been flying without autofps with a 60 FPS cap, 2x FG, dynamic setting at 60 fps. Not sure if these are good settings, but I haven't had much time to test it yet. My last 1,5 hr flight was nice but with decreasing performance and stuttering after landing and taxiing. So, with my good experience from 2020 I'd like to go back to AutoFPS, but I've lost focus a bit when it comes to the settings. I've tried to read through the thread, but I still have a lot of questions about all the setting options. In 2020, I always flew without Expert Options, but not sure if this is still the way to go. Would you say it's okay for now to start with keeping my settings in MSFS as they are now (60 FPS cap, 2x FG, dynamic setting at 60 fps) and AutoFPS with Targte=FG and FPS=120 without "Expert Options"? Somewhere in this thread I saw your recommendation to use Auto Method = FPS Cap. But what are the other correct settings then in "Expert Options"? Sorry if these questions have already been asked. And thanks for your help. 10 hours ago, fernandinho said: In the MSFS 2024 Settings with Max Frame Rate set to 60. In that case, your current AutoFPS settings are fine. Non-Expert mode will automatically detect an FPS cap and will use FPS Cap mode if it does find one (indicated by seeing FPS Cap in the app status line). As for venturing into other settings in Expert mode, I suggest you follow the advice in the readme: The best settings for you to use are highly dependent on your system's capabilities, what other addons and supporting apps you use, and what your expectation of "best" actually is - higher FPS, improved visuals, smoother experience - some of which are mutually exclusive (i.e you can have one but only at the expense of another). Additionally, there are now thousands of users of this app and I simply don't have the time to provide individual settings advice to everyone that asks. As such, your best course of action is to start off with non-expert mode to see what the app actually does and when. Once you are comfortable with how the app operates, enable expert settings and start reading the tooltip and readme on what each setting does. When making changes, it is best to make small changes to only a few settings so that you can see the effect of them and adjust as desired. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

Could not determine Community folder location for MSFS2020. App may not work correctly with MSFS2020! I'll uninstall fully and grab an older version so it updates and will see what happens I have found the issue, which is caused by how incomplete an MSFS uninstall actually is because it generally leaves your MSFS userdata folders of 160GB+ completely intact. The AutoFPS installer looks for the existence of the UserCfg.opt file to determine whether MSFS of either version is installed and has no way otherwise of telling whether a particular MSFS install is still active or not. For most users, other than leaving such a large amount of data on your drive, this causes no issue with AutoFPS as the Community folder also remains intact, so the app can fruitlessly check or write to that folder during the silent install process and it causes no issue. I would say that you had a Custom Community folder location and that is now gone, which is why it is failing during the silent install. While the true solution is for MS/Asobo to write a proper uninstaller for MSFS, that is very unlikely to happen so the workaround is as follows: If a user uninstalls MSFS, they should also go into their userdata folders and manually delete the data folders left behind by the MSFS uninstaller. If you do this, make absolutely sure you are deleting the right folder and that you have first moved or backed up any Community folder data shared between the two MSFS versions. For AutoFPS, I will update the installer so that with silent updates it will remain true to the silent nature of the update by not showing a message box of the failure to locate the Community folder to check Mobiflight, on the assumption that it must already be there from the initial app installation, but it will still appear in the installer log message box that will auto disappear after the silent update is complete. I will release a new test version shortly with this silent update message box suppression that you can try out if you like. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

Happy to test whenever you like, many thanks for looking into it 🙂 Yes, it is very messy of MS/Asobo to leave such a large app footprint after an uninstall. BTW, I just realised that for silent updates with test versions that only the app is updated, so the MobiFlight check won't occur with a test version anyway which makes it pointless for you to try right now. Rest assured, the next release version will have this message box suppression in place for auto and silent update, noting that if Community is not found for at least one MSFS version the installation will still fail, as it should. Edit: The aforementioned change has been made to the app, but as it won't be utilised until the next formal release and this is the only recent change, I will not release this test update just yet. FYI, there is a new entry in the online readme to cover this eventuality if it happens to anyone else in the future: If you see an ‘Unable to locate Community folder’ message after uninstalling MSFS, it’s caused by leftover MSFS userdata that the official uninstaller doesn’t remove. AutoFPS detects MSFS by checking for the remaining UserCfg.opt file, so a partial uninstall can look like an active install—especially if a custom Community folder has been deleted. Removing the leftover MSFS userdata resolves the issue, and future silent updates will suppress this message while still logging it internally. January 21Jan 21 Hi, Thank you for this great app. I’ve been using it for airliners with great result but recently I’ve tried it with low level GA VFR. I’ve experienced quite varied results and I am not sure if I am asking too much. I’ve tried both the 2020 only app and now use the 2020 and 2024 app. I run on 2020 and have GPU-z. The quick question regarding am I asking too much is that my altitude is mostly 1800-2500 ft and my hunch says that it’s too low to really see any large swings in reducing OLOD and increasing TLOD. If I am wrong and this is a perfectly valid use case for the app please let me know otherwise I’ll stick with it for airliners and just go all default with this low level GA. Many Thanks
