MSFS won't rememeber 'Full Screen' setting

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

In addition to this fine mess with the windowed vs non situation....

Unable to have the training wheels off (assistance settings) meaning, when I'm the main sim settings, where adjustments are made for assistance or not..I go to load up an aircraft...settings change to training wheels. When you try and revert back to what you just set..you can't, because the settings are stuck on that blasted volocopter. Can NOT select anything else.

Ps: the ALT+enter method for changing in/out of windowed mode...borked!!

Thanks....MS😡

It is not just those who prefer the simulator to open in full screen.
Even if it is set to start in a smaller window, it now starts like this:

and then reverts to this:

The same here. It does not remember the size and coordinates of windowed mode ..

Same here! A week or two ago some of my settings were suddenly set to default (not all though) and since a week or so, I think after receiving a 'small' update MSFS starts up in windowed mode all the time. Odd stuff. Not a real problem though for me: alt-enter and I'm done.

I do not see it so drastically. Asobo and Microsoft did a great job and I’m convinced, that they will further improve the sim. Of course, there are things, I don‘t like or I would like to improve faster (i.e.: airport buildings with glass, which stick out black in fog. This is an immersion killer for me)). But overall, I have a great time flying so many nice (and a few wonderful) airplanes in a immersive environment.✈️😊

I have this issue sometimes but I always get a warning about my data being used up and to deactivate it.  This happens no matter what my data settings are, and I have disabled and turned data to unlimited

The same thing here.

In addition the click spots for all instruments in the cockpit (not VR) are no longer centered but are always slightly to the right or left. This has been going on for about two weeks now. It's really annoying when you want to enter something on the FMC.

Intel Core i7-11700F, mainboard MSI MPG B560I GAMING EDGE WIFI (MS-7D19), 32 GB DDR4 SDRAM, RTX3070, no OC for CPU, RAM or GPU, XMP off. MS Store version, default installation path on a 1 TB NVMe 4x 8 GT/s

Ehm... makes me think of a problem I had years ago... I solved it by changing a setting which had to do with the screen... Some option that would change the ratio a little making knobs show up in a slightly different spot... I'll see if I can find it somewhere... Not sure if that is YOUR problem too though.

EDIT
There should be a setting called 'lens correction' somewhere (I suppose on the Graphics screen but I can't check that right now): turn it off and see if that helps.

You saved my day, thanks! Typically I never use that option but had it switched on recently while making a lot of 'dramatic' screenshots for a project.

Do all the problems that so many people are complaining about on this platform have anything to do with me?

You can expect modest issues with a product of this depth and pace of development that has been around 3.5y now.  XPlane has been under the same developer for about 25y now which matters hugely in terms of grappling with issues.   Yes MS was the producer of FSX but they ultimately created a hugely new simulator with big innovations never seen in any flight simulator, with a decadal pause in between products, and ported it to a console to boot.  Those innovations are why MSFS has garnered more new and old users than any FS in history. P3D really was FSX extended and if you were honest (or some say stupid for taking its EULA seriously) back then you'd cough up $200 a pop for its major revisions, most of which I defy anyone to recall exactly what new features arrived, at least from V1 to V2 to V3.  After that, V4 became very meaningful with its 64-bit conversion ending its infamous OOM issues.

I use MSFS to the tune of 1000's of hours since its debut and have had no really issues that weren't addressed reasonably quickly for a product of this scope.   Don't forget forums attract people experiencing issues they can't solve themselves.

For me this had been happening for about a week, but correcting back to full screen does no good.  I get an instant CTD every time I click Fly now, so the sim is now unusable for me.

Check the setting in general options called "Lens Correction" and make sure it's off--this is known to cause the issue you describe.

There appears to be a recurring issue when users report valid technical problems with Asobo/Microsoft's flight simulator, MSFS2020. While some users may view the simulator as flawless and overlook its faults, others are quite bothered about many issues. It is important to acknowledge that there are limitations even in Level D simulators and that such a level of complexity cannot be replicated in a gaming context. However, it is important to note that the MSFS2020 is susceptible to instability and unpredictability, which often leads to the emergence of unanticipated issues and dissatisfaction. I agree with your findings, but those are only a few of the problems.

Let us know when you can find a single user who views the simulator, or any simulator, as "flawless".  It's all about context:

Without getting into some unproductive discussion, how well have certain issues been addressed since release?
There are frequent unnecessary resets to the flight control settings, and there are also numerous resets or updates from the cloud regarding other settings. There are also intermittent issues with broken settings after updates, which leads to performance issues due to poor optimization. Furthermore, there are still poor aircraft dynamics/behavior across almost all airplanes, which require lots of adjustments in the flight config file by either certain developers or users. I am disappointed to find out that the RVR option is still not available. Additionally, there are very limited cloud types to choose from, there are so many problems to be fixed. I hope these issues can be addressed soon.
