Why an I getting a Mandotory 115GB Update?

Recommended Posts

Well, I can state (for me) that Zen's latest recommendations didn't work so I will not post it.  Also, unlike most of you, after I resize to full screen, prepare my flight and click "Fly" I get an immediate CTD.

No flying for me.  Looks like a complete reinstall - something I won't have time for in the immediate future.

Dang, man I’m sorry to hear this.  I hope it gets resolved soon.

I will give some kudos to the Zendesk person(s) that have responded to my initial report of this.  They have responded every day with new procedures to try (beyond just reinstalling FS).  They came back with the following statement today:

We have seen in the past week issues caused by Windows Gaming Services. This service authenticates your license. Issues with Gaming Services can also cause the message "You are missing essential packages".
Try the following:
1. RESET THE MICROSOFT STORE APP...

Before I post this procedure and all of the other procedures they've given me to try over the last few days,  I'm going to run the Reset of the MS Store App and see if the problem resolves.  If it does, then I'll be happy to post it.

"Uh oh, that's not good news.". Despite the fact that their process erased all data, I'm currently experiencing a download speed of 50 MB/s for a file size of 1.76 TB. As mentioned, every time you get one of these people to respond there is a total denial of their wrongdoing or "solutions" that don't work at all. Since AUG 2020, Asobo/ZenDesk has not provided a stable platform, leading to frustration.

Is this happening to anyone using Steam for MSFS? Also this is why I have a separate drive for all my installs and use symbolic links.

I am using the MS Store version of MSFS and this is happening to me too. I DO have MSFS installed on a separate drive as well and use Addon Linker for my addons.

Yea, I have the Steam version myself and don’t have any of these reported issues. Fully plan on staying with Steam for MSFS2024.

I have the Steam version, and it keeps starting in Windowed mode. ALT+Enter sorts it out, but I'd like to know why it's happening. Other than that, no problems.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.
