Carenado T182T mod info

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to write some great info that @Tim-HH discovered when we were painting some 182s recently.

He was able to add the SU14 turbocharger logic in so now the 182 is actually a real TC as it should be.  Also he was able to allow compatibility with Navigraph charts via another cfg edit.

I've updated my original paints (not the old color changed ones) and Tim has also done some stellar paints.... if you download them you'll have these changes in your fixed gear 182.

It honestly makes the plane worth it imo!

@ryanbatc  I noticed your lovely paints on there the other day Ryan.  And now with the extras, even better!  Thanks!

I have always liked this aircraft actually.  No matter what people think of Carenado, it is good fun for the money.

Another one here who, despite all the fab GA releases we've had, does still enjoy taking the CAR CT182T out for a spin.  I've always thought it has a really nice, convincing flight model.

With these new TC mods, it's a no brainer.  Off to grab those liveries!

Always love a good 182 livery. Take away all the paint and honestly the 182 is a rather drab and boring looking airframe..  Add in some cheat lines and appealing curves in paint and suddenly the girl has flair and static speed.

I was surprised that the 182 is decently fast.  I think at 8000 I was seeing like 135-140 ktas with reasonable power settings.  If you take it up into the low 20s then yeah you can get the 170-180 or whatever.

I'm so glad you posted this Ryan.  I love Tim's work but I'm not a fan of retro liveries. 😄 I was looking last night but the retro one above was the only one that mentioned the new TC work in the FS.TO description.

Can now fly your nice shiny new one with the corrected TC stuff! 👍

Tim has some other modern ones on there plus a few more upcoming 🙂

Did you do a lovely metallic red one as well Ryan.  That link is only for the blue isn't it?

That's the strange thing. This design is OLD yet, she still hangs or exceeds with modern streamlined carbon fiber toys of the modern age.

If you just go to the 182 category you can see me and Tim's latest.  All of those are compatible with the charts and have the new turbo logic

@ryanbatc a bit of an unrelated question Ryan, if I may.

Do you have any repaints for the default 172 G1000 that work with the Bagolu improvement mod for it?

Thanks for your work as always Ryan. Just curious, I recall you saying that painting Carenado planes in P3D was notoriously difficult due to the layout they used. Is it easier in MSFS?

With their newer models yes it's a lot better .. although I'm painting in 3d now (using Adobe substance painter).  Though some of their planes have mirrored textures like this skylane hehe.

Some of these newer addons are impossible to paint with the old 2d Photoshop/GIMP techniques.  For instance the new Cirrus G6 has around 90 total exterior dds textures if you're making metallic paints.  And you HAVE to paint with 3d like blender or substance.

It's been a learning curve but Tim and I sort of fought through blender and moved to substance - we sort of "egg each other on" and paint the same planes hehe.
