My favorite Start region was Windows 7, which is what I use (Start11 by Stardock allows using the Windows 7,8,10, or 11 Start button region). So the window that pops up when I click on Start looks like this:

There's couple dozen other mods for color, transparency, what tasks are assigned to the Windows key, etc.

Some third party apps will block you from updating.

yes very true you never think about it , makes you notice 99% of activity on here is from people in the same country's that are all first world. We are very lucky we have access to a computer and able to enjoy flight simming. Most people in the world it would be impossible even for a basic setup and that's even if they have electricity and internet.

I got black desktop last year after try the update fresh installed Ghost spectre WIN11(22H2), and also with ExplorerPatcher (essential for me as I need my task bar on the side of 2nd monitor.), I navigate to system Restore via cmd to get it back. Then I just block update until 2077, so far so good, no any update prompt from the system yet.

So far the system runs robust, I didn't remember I got any BSOD for a year.
