Active Sky FS First Impressions

Installation simple but needs online connection. Weather depiction matched reality (once I had set my options! Oops). Using with both frame Gen and AutoFPS mods no problems encountered. FPS, actually noticed an increase in FPS flying over Spain with FG I have 70fps. So far so good, no heavy weather as yet as I'm using real time.

That's likely with a very high transition setting. It took 10 seconds. With lower transition speeds it takes 1 to 10 minutes (as you like). I've set it to about 5 minutes, so it changes over 5 minutes. I have not noticed one single morphing/appearing/disappearing on yesterdays flight with it, certainly no popping. And mind you I *was* actively looking for it!

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

So just so i will understand, if i will set it to 10 minutes, i will see it slowly slowly building up ? Meaning that by the time they finished building up i already passed them ?

i was sure the main point is for them to build up when beyond visual sight

No, they are built up within visual sight. That's what transitions are for, so you don't notice them building up within your sight. In other words: If a new weather is detected by AS, it will slowly transition the current scene to the new weather scene.
Beyond visual range is only possible with MSFS default live weather, because they have a local weather model.

The update rate can be turned down so the transition happens over a longer period.

I find the poor live weather clouds more of an immersion killer than slow transitions.

Real life clouds do this all the time!

This is unacceptable! Real life is made unflyable by this! Killing immersion for me! Silly real world clouds, they need an update for sure... 😄

Thanks for sharing. In one place there was an abrupt change where the sky suddenly became clear. In another, clouds quickly started to appear, and the quickly dissipated a bit later. This could of course be due to settings.

Quite. You see a lovely storm building up, but the lightning, thunder and rain doesn't start until the storm has passed you. Damned inconvenient.

Same old behavior not going back to FS9/FSX/P3D WX for that matter with a WX API closed by MSFS for 3d party...
My guess is the grid pattern of clouds is seen also, sudden cloud shifts reappearing disappearing?
Well enjoy AS, not my cup of tea anymore after almost two decades of AS have seen it all...

Caused by not reading the manual, and adjusting settings. aka  Pilot error.

Good grief, this is far from the truth, IF the manual has been read and the settings set to your personal preference.

Should have spent some time learning how it works.
