Status of Asobo airports: example LFPG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I do not post often, but I have a question.

It seems Asobo hasn't fixed some standard airports from the package. The AI does not leave the runway after landing, getting stuck.

Now, it also appears that no dev picked up the good task to make a nice De Gaulle. Hence my question if there is a good way to make LFPG better, I tried the conversion of TTG but lots of stuff like lighting is missing.

I never learned how to edit airports in msfs, but perhaps there is already a mod to enhance LFPG?

I do not fly there frequently, but hey it is a major airport so it would be nice to have it in working order for the flights I do😁. I wonder how often you guys fly to De Gaulle?

Best regards,

Pete

There is an improved "afcad" for LFPG on flightsim.to. That might prevent AI getting stuck but it won't do anything for the lighting off course.
While searching I found there are two, the newer one is supposed to also improve lighting: LFPG terrain fix with AFCAD and ground marking for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS

That's a really good one. It gets constantly improved, and I have used for about a year.

Thanks all. I will try this home soon. It is just a shame that no one from the devs ever took LFPG as a project. It never was as interesting as the German airports I guess.

Apparently Taxi2Gate is working on it, but their KMCO was only meh, so I'm hoping for a iniBuilds suprise release.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I thought maybe FranceVFR or JetStream Designs could take it on. But the airport is probably too large for what they normally do.

I don't think Asobo will update it now that msfs2024 is not that far. We will see if LFPG is included in the next version.

LFPG is a huge airport and it is deeply missed. We know that the first developer to release a nice version will cranck the jackpot.

The main problem is that nobody want to be undercut on such a big project. Flightbeam has his hands full with KSFO and probably KPHX and Flytampa is too small and if they need 3 years to release it, they will probably be undercut. They surely don't want to see the Montreal fiasco again.

T2G said they were interrested but we know T2G: their KMCO was so-so and after each scenery they turn to hibernation with absolutely no communication. This hibernation can last one year maybe more. But like a dead volcano, they can wake up any time and arrive with screens for LFPG and it probably scare many developpers.

Our best bet is honnestly Inibuilds. They showed that they are not afraid with such huge airports (Los Angeles, Heathrow, Dubai, etc) and they can produce it quickly. They will sit on a gold mine if they can release a good LFPG quickly. Of course, their sceneries are not as good as Flightbeam or FlyTampa but they will surely fill more than the void for many simmers.

How many years do you reckon they will need? I have been hearing about this for 3 now. I don't think it will ever happen.

I think Mir is working solo and it is also a huge airport. It will probably be a gem but it takes time. I heard it will be available this summer.

Inibuilds would be better than nothing for sure but I find their airports to be…how to do I say it…copy and paste? They seem to feel a bit Asobo generic to me and lack those little touches of the top flight like Flytampa etc. The ground textures in particular at Dubai and Abu Dhabi seem very basic.
