I would take a flat 30fps with zero stutters and freezes over anything else.

I can imagine the frustration especially when many, like yourself, have invested a considerable amount of money on your hardware. It’s important people - customers - continue to complain if the service is failing to deliver.

I think people are so used to stutters/freezes at this point that this issue has blended into the fabric and that's a pity because it is definitely something that has been ongoing for months now and g

  • It does make you wonder how they're going to handle server traffic once MSFS2024 launches.

Very unstable server connection for the last few hours. Stuck on checking for updates, cannot load into a flight even after restarting the sim several times.

Yes, Ray. Overall the trade off for enjoyment is worth it but it does get very frustrating at times.

It was the Map Mod Bing Latest that was the culprit as to why MSFS alerts that I had insufficient bandwidth so was taken offline repeatedly for over 24 hours.  I think maybe what happened was perhaps I didn't STOP the mod after using it, then decided to uninstall it as I found coloration where I'm flying now was way off more than the default Bing data map in sim.  This seems to have left MSFS unable to connect to its maps server, or something along those lines.  This morning, same same, was getting the 'We're taking you offline...."  repeatedly after several reboots.  Then I decided to reinstall the Map Mod, Started it, and no longer had the connection/bandwidth issue.  Then stopped it, rebooted and restarted MSFS w/ default maps, and all seems well again w/ no connection related alerts.

Cheers

Noel - I bet the hosts.ini file had something to do with your results.  That is what the map mod touches to make connections.

Awesome thanks for pointing this out I was hoping someone could shed some light on it.

when I first returned to default Bing data in sim after trying the Bing Latest software

In the map enhancement app, right? In that case, exactly the same for me. Couldn’t load into a flight until I removed the app’s entries in the hosts file. Turned out that it was completely unrelated to server issues.

Yep, where is the hosts file if you will?

While here do you find certain areas in the world look much better w/ the Bing Latest?  Right now I'm mostly flying in the western US and it's much more lush green and has been for quite a while in the default map around Denver CO.  What connection does Accuseason have with the map mods?  Should I always reinstall the current season whenever switching maps?  I don't understand their relationship.

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

According to the FAQ it’s possible to delete the file rather than edit it.

i think a lot of areas are significantly better with latest Bing, yes. Perhaps not so much the recent world updates. Yesterday I flew around Norway, and I turned the mod off as default was better (less artifacts due to clouds on terrain).

As for Accuseason, not sure. I always have it on. I update the seasons whenever I remember, can be several weeks in between.
