Selected Runway not Always Actually Selected

Featured Replies

HI,

Of late I have a problem with many airports, no matter what runway I select for departure from the "World Map" it always places me at the same runway.

This runway remains the same as long as I stay at that airport, but obviously will differ when I change airport.

If I select a gate it's fine but not when I select a runway.

Any ideas, please?

EDIT:- I initially thought it was just at EIDW but it's at nearly every airport as far as I can see.

Have you MK Dublin V1 or V2.
28R is only in MK Dublin V2 available

V2.2.2 , however, even if I disable it and just have the default EIDW I will be placed at 28L no matter which runway I select.

Very odd !

Make sure you have the setting ATC ENFORCE FLIGHTPLAN set to ON under Assistance Options > User Experience. If that setting is off, the sim picks the runway for takeoff -- perhaps based on current real weather winds?

There's a long standing bug that, if you make changes to your aircraft/livery selection the sim will ignore your gate/parking/runway selection and place you at the default runway. The work-around is to always make you aircraft/livery changes before selecting your starting location.

Same here, at default airports as well.

If you use the WM planner have you, when selecting a runway you're interested in taking off on, made sure you always use a SID associated w/ that runway?  For example, I used SID JCOBY4 Rwy 30 and this assures I will be sent to Rwy 30 there at KIAD.

To recap:

  1. I select my Gate/Ramp first in the WM planner, inputting only the departure airport
  2. Now input your arrival airport, and switch to IFR from Direct VFR
  3. Select your arrival runway if you wish
  4. Choose the correct SID for your chosen runway.  When you choose the SID runway combination in the field that displayed your Gate/Ramp changes to the runway you used associated w/ the SID you used.  But you will still be at the Gate/Ramp you chose.

I had the problem recently at EDKL, a small grass airstrip with no SID etc.

Thanks for that never saw that setting and have used my described method but this appears to be a little more straight forward.

Cheers

Interesting:  that settings has always been ON I just learned.  So will need to stick w/ my method as I know if I don't ATC will sometimes pick a different runway.  The other aspect is if you're starting at a gate/ramp, which I always am, so need to follow the logic mentioned of using a matched SID to the runway I wish to TO on.
