Hi Ray, good suggestion. Actually I was a bit surprised Google Earth Pro is not showing the second runway completed. I went and checked and sure enough as you showed above its still incomplete.

Then I found a small label in the very bottom left corner right next to the left nav pane that showed "1985". Its below the distance scale in your image. I clicked this small tab and it gave me a historical view of the airport . At the top a time slider appears.
If I slide that to March 2024 I actually can see a more update to date version than the one depicted.I just found this by accident.

In order to refresh the photo .bgl files, I believe you can use SBuilderX to import the Google satellite imagery and then create the .bgl file for it. I have never tried it myself but visiting FSdeveloper web site you should be able to pick up some instructions .

BTW- should anyone want to attempt this,  the latest Google Earth Pro EIDW image shows some puffy white clouds right on top of the runway so some judicial image editing will be needed I think in Photoshop before you can render the .BGL!

Hi Mark. I thought I had slid the slider to the latest date. But checking Dublin Airport the new runway has been operational for over 12 months. I’ll have another go tomorrow when the weather is forecast to be worse. Too nice to be indoors today. ☀️

Me too! I thought Google Earth always displayed the latest imagery, but using that small slider, I was able to get an even more up to date image than what was shown by default. I dont know if that's default behavior or not for GE??

And yes, enjoy your day in the sunshine. 31C here today in southwest Germany. Its BBQ weather.  😉

@787flyer, hi Mark. I checked again today using a larger monitor and yes, the runway markings are complete. What is a pain is the cloudy bit casting a shadow to the NW. Difficult for anyone to clean it up. 😟

Not for p3d. I reached out to mk last year and they confirmed to me they outright pulled it everywhere. Cannot be bought unfortunately.

I wonder why EIDW was specifically pulled? Their other airports for P3D are still on sale (e.g. EIDL) for P3D and their approach so far has been to cease development of P3D scenery altogether.

Yeah I tried reaching out to MKstudios this year to check if there was any future plans in relation to the Dublin airport and they never replied.. a bit of a bummer since I would really want a Dublin airport for P3D 😔

Same for me almost. I was really looking forward to their long-announced P3D LIRF scenery re-make they had promoted and in fact they did state they would deliver it as part of a future, planned Vatsim event, but in the end they never did release the scenery.

I sort of gave up on MK Studios as a lost cause after that, as in my view they renegued on their commitments.

Simply because it doesn't include the new runway and the first thing a buyer (or a potential custumer) will do is to contact MK to ask for it or ask for a refund because in his mind, it was mandatory that the new runway would be included in a Dublin scenery.

And because it is clear that MK has no intentions to add this new runway and because the sales for this scenery might be low anyway, it is better for them to withraw the scenery  instead of receiving complains and bad reviews.

The sad conclusion is that we reached a point where developpers don't even care to update a scenery to add a single runway.

I suspect you are right. I understand as you wrote, that may have been their rationale, but if it was they failed in my view as that did not stop people requesting the new runway for those that had already purchased the scenery! Of course they would also need to answer the other question of why update the MSFS version (which they did), but not the P3D version of EIDW, if both were on sale.

Comment: It may be a bit unfair to rope all developers into the same group though. I have seen WFSS and Imaginesim continue to update their P3D sceneries as new runways have appeared at VHHH and WSSS, so kudos to them for providing that level of customer support. Unfortunately its a small group of developers that do go to these lengths.

I think they could argue that people who bought the scenery before the new runway was achieved bought a scenery which was current at the time they bought it.

This argument would not be valid for someone who bought it in July 2024 for exemple and that's why I think they withrew that scenery.

Anyway, if the scenery is not on sale anymore, the chance to see that new runway in the P3D version are absolutely nil 😞

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm looking at it in ORBX Central and says it is available for Prepar3d v4.4+.  If I click buy, it says it will charge my card ending in...
