Once the Patriot Act ( the US has such Orwellian naming conventions!)

Oh, yes, an oxymoron if there ever was one.

Our esteemed CONgress likes to give bills titles that reflect the opposite of what they either intentionally or unintentionally achieve. Another good example is the "Inflation Reduction Act", which actually makes inflation worse since it's basically a massive giveaway spending program.

The Patriot Act effectively ended privacy and much personal freedom in the USA.  How sad.

If one of them is a Latina, the sound of a cheap motorbike will make her put her phone back into her pocket ASAP. Trust me 😂

Isle of man banning cellphone use during school day. Good for them!

Here in the U.S. many school districts are banning cell phones during school hours. I'd like to see ALL schools across the country take the same actions.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but it's annoying me that so many people walk along the street staring at their phones and walk straight into people, or realize at the last minute.

Had it happen  20 minutes ago, this time I leapt out of the way for her. Don't even think she noticed me at all, even after I veered out of the way.

Watched a women a few weeks ago walk across a pedestrian crossing, staring at her phone, without checking if a car was coming and if it has stopped.  I was behind and found myself checking for her, ready to alert her.

Sorry ladies, but most of the time they are female culprits.

yeah ive seen that last one a few times and seen how close they come to getting hit!!

maybe this will have some effect..

Had TWO the other day.

Two girls in, I guess, late twenties. A few yards apart.

I was just walking round a corner, waited for the first one, marching along staring at her phone, not watching where she was going, immediately followed by the second girl, doing the same, a few yards behind. 🙄

Classic case: Cycling on the road leading to the busiest cycle path into the city and I see a late teenage girl walking towards me on the road and staring at her phone. So, time for an experiment and life lesson as there was no traffic. I got close enough to her that I actually had to go around her before she noticed me, and she didn't even have the 'excuse' of having earphones in. As I passed, I called out that she was lucky I wasn't driving a car.

Mind you, she probably went on Face-palm, sorry, Facebook to complain about a rude cyclist instead of learning the lesson. 🙄

Says it all.....

4 hours a day? It's 8 for most teens now. If it wasn't for school it would be EVERY WAKING HOUR.
